“Great Birthday Stay!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

My sister & I stayed here this past weekend to celebrate my 50th Birthday! We had a most relaxing stay at this charming Bed & Breakfast. It is decorated beautifully. We stayed in the "Guest Room". The owners are to be commended for such a wonderful place. And also many thanks to Eva for a yummy homemade breakfast! We will stay here again

“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

My sister and I enjoyed our stay and the morton street b&b, we where in town celerbrating her birthday. The b&b is right in the heart of shipshewana where you can walk to all the stores.

The home is beautifully taken care of with nice big bedrooms and private baths. I loved the big old fashioned kitchen, where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea and a big fresh cookie.

We enjoying sitting outside in the patio, listening to the birds sing, and watching the amish buggies go by.

In the morning we were served a big country breakfast. It was a very relaxing time, i can't wait to go back again next year.

  • Liked — it was quiet and relaxing
  • Disliked — the shops closed up at five

“Not a top notch B&B”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2005

I've stayed in quite a few B&B's now and my experience at Morton Street was easily the most unpleasant. I was greeted in the proprietors bakery with a "hello" and "we need the second half of your payment for the night". Folks stay in and pay a little more for B&B's so they can be treated like more than a source of income. I'm afraid I felt like I was nothing more than an unpleasantry that was distracting them from their bakery business. I was given a very quick tour and then the owner disappeared and was never seen again. They do not live on site- I really wish this had been clarified on their website. The backyard garden that has been set up as a dining area for their bakery/cafe was lovely; however the landscaping in the front of the B&B (where guests enter) was neglected with unkempt bushes and spider webs everywhere. The building itself was in need of a good power washing. The home itself smelled old and musty, and while one does acclimate to the smell, it wasn't pleasant. Our room was hot, there were two small dark stains on the bed sheets, and soap scum on the bathtub drainer (which was a very slow drain). It wasn't a homey experience; there was no special attention or notable hospitality. It was a room in an uncomfortable, smelly old house that provided no noteworthy ambience just a lousy night’s sleep.

“Touch of Home”

This is a realy great place to stay. You have a nice room in an old victorian house. You are left many conforts. Throws on the couch, cookies from the bakery, flavored teas or coffe. You can play games at the dinning room table or Watch satalite tv in the living room. A diary is left in each room so you can read about other peoples stays. You also get a big home made breakfast made for you in the mornig. We return each year to this B&B, and refer them to all our friends. They realy go the extra mile
