“Stayed in MUCH worse for much more $$”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

I reserved this room in January for a September stay. (Yes, I booked a Knights Inn 9 months in advance.) Anyway, after reading the "bed bugs" review, I was hesitant to stay, but my room was non-refundable.

I arrived at 2:30 pm and was told my room wasn't ready yet. Mr. Lin asked if I still wanted a King room because he could put me in a room with two doubles right away. Half-joking, I asked if the price would be lower on a different room. His eyes got big, and he told me I was paying MUCH less than the current rate of $69.99. I opted to return in a couple of hours when my room was ready.

When I got back to the hotel, my room was ready, but my rate was quoted $1.00 higher. Yes, it was only a dollar, and I'm sure it was an innocent math error, but I had the woman working at the desk correct it. I said, "I don't think he is too happy about the low rate I got." She replied, "He's not making any money at that price." Okay -- maybe they shouldn't offer that rate if they're going to be upset about people getting it!

Now the good news: The room was very, very clean. There were more TV stations than in your typical budget motel. The WiFi signal was strong. There was a power strip to help accomodate all of the outlets needed to plug in gadgets. The room had a fridge, microwave, coffee pot, shampoo, lotion, and very clean towels. The free breakfast, while nothing special, was still a free breakfast.

Yes, it's an older property and is right off the road and next to a car dealership, but it was perfect for my needs: a reasonably priced place to sleep that was clean and well-equipped.

Note to the proprietors: Next time, say something like "Wow! You got a great deal! We appreciate you booking so early" instead of making my business seem unwelcomed because I got a good price.

Nonetheless, I would definitely stay here again.

“Two words: BED BUGS.”

Do yourself a favor and drive on past! It's far from the interstate, and right in the middle of residential areas. The hotels/motels out by interstate 70 are much safer and closer to restaurants/stores. The bedding is old, furniture outdated, has outdoor entrance (eek!), and bed bugs in the first room I was assigned. After I was moved into a room with a dirty toilet and used bath towels, I decided to stay at another facility. Don't listen to the "pet friendly" and "excellent stay reviews". It's probably just boosters because I can assure you this is not an excellent establishment.

“Excellent Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

Although I have had a mixed bag of experience with Knights Inns, I accepted the Trip Advisor evaluations and spent a night. Beginning with Mr. Lin's gracious welcome at registration, the experience was excellent. The motel is an older property, well-maintained and clean enough to earn a superior in any inspection I experienced in the Navy. Three routers provide strong internet connection. In keeping with the price, the breakfast is modest , but adequate.

“Awesome dog friendly hotel and nearby park.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

We stayed here mid-week in July based on the review by the person traveling with a dog and we prefer exterior corridors for easy in and out with our puppy. It was great! Rooms are medium size with fridge, microwave, direct TV and DVD player. Only 2 miles from I-70 and 1 mile from charming, historic downtown Richmond and really nice couple who run the place. Here's the best part for people with dogs; walk two blocks west and one block north and there is the HUGE "Glen Miller Park" which is fantastic and open from 8am to 11pm. Dogs are supposed to be leashed but there are acres and acres of woods and fields far from the duck pond or children's playground. (which was also very cool) where we let our dog off to chase a tennis ball and sniff around and RUN after 6 days and 8 hours in the car. We got a delicious $14 chicken,Cole slaw, mashed potato, gravy and biscuits dinner for 2 to go from "Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken" 4 blocks west of the Knights Inn and had a picnic!

“Great price, clean room, wonderful staff”

There are a lot of cheap motels along the I-70 corridor in this area. This one is a couple miles off the interstate on a main thoroughfare with plenty of access to restaurants, shopping, etc. Its appearance is dated, but I wanted a motel that allowed me to park my vehicle next to my room, and this does. The Asian couple who runs this hotel couldn't be nicer. They are very attentive and professional and take personal care in making sure that the rooms are clean and well equipped. And they are. Although the room has older styling, it is equipped with mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, free WiFi and DirecTV. The bathroom has been recently remodeled, and everything works well. Although the website mentions a pool, the pool is not open--"can not afford to at these room prices," explained the manager. This is my preferred stop-over when traveling to and from the midwest.
