Sadly it appears that even newer Country Inn properties can’t get out of the past. There’s the typical “staircase & book exchange” that is standard at all Country Inns which really does add a lot of charm to the chain. Almost all other similarly priced chains ($100 a night) have upgraded and refreshed their décor. This is a newer looking property and the bed was a tempur material mattress which is great, but it still had the same old wall paper, big nasty comforters and old TV sets. Our stay was fine, but signs of wear were already apparent. I’d give this property another 6 months before the cleanliness becomes unacceptable; it’s right on the cusp of being sub-par. The front desk seemed quite lazy for this chain, but that may had just been the two people I had experience with. Older properties in the area probably have a newer feel and while Country Inn’s theme is “rustic”, I don’t think they’re going for “old, broken and faded”, which is what some of them now feel like.
