The hotel is typical and clean enough. It is the only chain hotel in town. If you want a nicer hotel or a cheaper hote, you have to drive 15 miles west to Seymour. (There is a bed & breakfast in town.) The rooms were OK. The breakfast was OK. The management would not work with us on check out times. He wanted to charge us for a few extra hours-although the hotel wasn't even close to full.
Even with a discounted rate, it was pricy for an average Comfort Inn in a small town.

The hotel itself has gotten better over the past few years however the Management is terrible. Always has been an always will. Truely not a hotel to stay at if you are in need of safety or normal comforts.

Very nice, good location, comfortable stay. Welcoming staff, clean, secure.

We went to a high school graduation in May there in North Vernon, and while the natural beauty is amazing (some of the most beautiful rural areas I've seen with huge hardwood forests), the hotel we stayed at was less than amazing.

So the good first:

Service - We had some problems that I'll speak about below, but the night manager was very accommodating, and changed us into a bigger, nicer room. The people were pretty friendly, from the housekeepers to the front desk staff.

Rooms - The King room was pretty nice. It was good-sized, clean and almost completely remolded. The 2 doubles room was pretty tight, but do-able.

Breakfast - They had a decent breakfast each morning, pretty simple, but more than the continental breakfast. They had waffles, some cereal and some pastries. Not too shabby.

Now the bad:

Rooms - Our first room was a two-double room, and it was not quite remodeled. The baseboards were missing, and the small refrigerator in the room was so loud that we had to unplug it so we could hear the TV. The bathrooms are very small, and the vanity is sufficient, not great. Then the A/C went out in our room at like midnight. To their credit, the night manager came right up and tried to fix it for us, which included flipping the breaker in the basement which cut the power to numerous rooms. I hope those people had wake-up calls and didn't try to set their alarms. Come to think of it, the clocks were blinking every morning after we set them the evening before.

Pool - They do have a small pool, but it looked pretty dingy and we didn't venture in there. I'm down for pretty much any pool, but I passed on this one.

Broken Entrances - There are two entrances, the main one, and another in the back in an area that backs to a park. Prime real estate for shady characters. Anyway, the key card access was broken, so anyone could come into the hotel at any time.

Bottom Line:
This is the only chain hotel in North Vernon, IN, so if you have to stay there, consider it a bit of adventure and don't expect much and you might not be disappointed. But if you just have to stay in the area, try the Holiday Inn Express in Seymour (about 15 miles to the west) which looked AWESOME.
