“On our own”

We chose this B&B due to the fact that it was not too far away and that the rooms looked beautiful online. Our first hint that things would not turn out well was the greeting from the host. Not sure of his name as he did not introduce himself. We arrived ten minutes early due to the disclaimer we agreed to when we rented the room. It stated explicitly that check-in times were to be strictly adhered to. We ended up having to call the number listed on the sign out front after several attempts to raise someone inside. He stated that it was not yet 3:00' the time of check-in. No, it wasn't...it was 2:53. We decided not to let that bother us and ruin our weekend get away. We were hurriedly shown to our room and given a quick tour of where we could find things. We did not feel welcomed at any time during this. He actually ended up putting a new tv in our room when we were first there, something we thought would have been done already as our reservation had been made several days before. We were also left on our own with no further instructions as to where to contact him or what to do in an emergency, if one should arise. We have had much better stays and felt more welcomed in city hotels.
Our room was adequate and the tub was very nice. The decor was very strange....some old, some modern, and some worn out. One of the wing chairs had a hole in it. As far as cleanliness, the bathroom was not clean at all and there was a coffee stain left on the nightstand that was very noticeable and should have been a quick fix.
Breakfast was good, but not of the quality or uniqueness that one would expect in a bed and breakfast, especially at the price we paid.

“Our post wedding retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

My new husband and I stayed here after our wedding. I'm sure you've seen photos of the mansion- you walk in the front door and go back in time. The warm and charming atmosphere invites you to take a deep breath and just relax. Surrounded by antiques, vintage decorations, and classical music ambiance it was easy to forget we even had cell phones. Hours into our stay we went ahead booked our room for the next night as well! I also appreciated the paper and hassle free process. I never signed a thing! Landon was an accommodating, calm, easy going man. Much like the mansion, very charming himself. I truly have no complaints. We look forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Pack warm pj's if you are staying in a room with lots of windows in the winter. The windows are...

“Very accomodating for business retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We were lucky to find not only the rooms available, but also a very accomodating owner, who allowed our business peer group to stay beyond the normal hours for our meeting. While the interior itself was not in "perfect" shape - it must be 100 years old - BUT, it was very decorative, very clean and very comfortable. The back deck was especially nice, to relax during the day and later at night. Very private and peaceful. We also found a great restaurant very nearby. Breakfast was timely and good - his peach french toast was excellent - overall, a very enjoyable and productive stay. Thanks for the hospitality!

“Almost "excellent" but needs TLC”

The property is beautiful and everything is very clean. The room was spacious and elegant, tastefully furnished, as was the entire property. The marble jacuzzi was inviting and worked well. The outside areas were pleasant, but the heat prevented us from using. Management's approach to guests took "casualness" to a whole new level. Upon check in, we were met by Lucy who was extremely nice and caring but spoke and understood little English and did not give us an introduction to the property. She pointed out the room and we were on our own. One of owners appeared eventually and showed us some of the amenities. He was preparing to leave for a family vacation and seemed preoccupied. Throughout our stay, we had difficulty with the wi-fi, especially at night when it would disappear entirely. We were not there on business, so it wasn't as important to us as it may be to others. We were given no phone numbers or contact information for what to do if we needed assistance. On our second night, we ran out of toilet paper and finally found some on our own after going through cabinets in the kitchen. On our last night, as we left for dinner, the front antique door knob fell to the ground as we tried to close the front door. We attempted to repair it but couldn't. There was no one to contact about this problem therefore we had to improvise a second way into the building since it seemed as if we might be the only ones there. We are independent travelers who don't require lots of attention, but we felt we were truly on our own without assistance of management. The breakfast room is beautiful and comfortable. The food was filling although not varied. Overall, we loved New Albany, had a wonderful time and thought the location was perfect.

“Charming B & B and very convenient location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We stayed at Mansion Row Inn over the 4th of July weekend while visiting friends in town at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, which was conveniently located just across the street! The inn is within walking distance of the town and a short drive over the bridge to Louisville. The interiors were beautiful, the deck and pond were lovely but with very hot weather we didn't spend much time out there, the host was friendly and the breakfast was delicious! Since we don't really use the in-room spas and tubs, we stayd in the Robert E. Lee room. It nicely accomodated 2 people, has a very comfortable four-poster queen bed, desk, 2 chairs, TV/VCR, good closet space and lot's of natural light coming front the two large front windows. We would definitely return to the Mansion Row Inn again and reccommend it as an alternative to Louisville lodging.

Room Tip: The private bath with shower was fine for us, but those of a larger stature might find the shower a...
