“A Clean Place with Friendly Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

My best friend and I stayed at the Napannee Inn for two nights as part of the Amish Acres Girlfriends Fall Weekend Getaway.

The Inn was clean, and the staff was very friendly. They do take their time getting things done, so don't expect a quick checkout. Nonetheless, the room was tidy and just what we expected for the very low price that we paid to stay there. They do give you ear plugs, and after reading reviews on here we were sure we'd be up all night with the trains, but that didn't happen at all. The train is on the other side of the road, which is far enough away to make me wonder what all these other reviews were complaining about. Neither one of us was woken up by the train.

The included breakfast was fine, but I do have to say the coffee was TERRIBLE. It had grounds floating in it both mornings we were there, but we heard it was the same over at the Amish Acres Inn, so who knows, maybe that's the way they like it. The breakfast consisted of bagels and cream cheese, hard boiled eggs, cold cereals and milk, and muffins. The milk they had was actually really delicious, so that was an unexpected treat.

Overall, the Nappanee Inn was a perfectly suitable hotel. We plan to go back next year for the Girlfriends Weekend again.

Thank you so much for your review. We are always looking for ways to improve our service to our guests. We take great pride in our hotels and we are glad that you had a great time for the Fall Girlfriends Getaway.

Thanks for your clarification about the train noise and that it didn't keep you up all night.

As the General Manager, I appreciate your feedback about breakfast. Although I am not sure how grounds got in the coffee at the Nappanee Inn, but thank you for bringing it to our attention so we can take a look at the machine that makes it. The Inn at Amish Acres did recently get a new coffee maker and we are continually adjusting that so that we can find the right mixture to get great coffee without the grounds in it.

Glad you liked the milk too!

We look forward to serving you again next year when you return for the 2012 Fall Girlfriends Getaway!

“Never again--ever”

Stayed on the weekend of the 6th and 7th. We arrived at 10PM and after having made the reservation a week ahead, we were assigned a room right next to the stairwell on the second floor. I inquired about a different room, so we wouldn't be disturbed. And they offered me a room right next door. I declined. When we let ourselves into the room the smoke alarm was beeping because of a bad battery. And the toilet looked like it hadn't had a good cleaning in a long time. They came and put a new battery in. Then we had trouble with the little 20 inch television. It looked ancient and it didn't get all of the channels indicated. There were only 2 bath towels for a reservation for 3 people. And freight trains ran all night long, with whistles sounding. they do provide ear plugs. and everytime we ran the shower it let out a shrill whistle the entire time. And the softest mattresses ever. Kids went to the pool and once they got out there they couln't get back in the building at the door by the pool there was no keyed entrance.
Not worth 119.00 a night.

“The manager and workers are great to work...”

The manager and workers are great to work with! The pool is great for the kids. The location is perfect, it is very close to amish acres. The hotel has a great breakfast. Everything is very clean and just an enjoyable experience. In the room they have free newspaper and some fruits. The only thing I would change is that there is a train across the road, but the hotel provides earplugs. This one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! This hotel is great!!! :)

“Poor Value - To Be Avoided”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

Napanee Inn is a half mile from Amish Acres and is afiliated with them. The packages mention the hotel, but no discounts are offered for some weekends. Transportation to Amish Acres is not provided, walking is not a good idea without sidewalks. Check in was smooth, they had the reservation. Apples at the front desk a nice touch. All fees are paid at check-in. Inside hallways are nice. Room lock had been broken, so there were marks on the door where the old one had been pried out and the new one installed. Outside rear doors require a key, but were mostly left ajar. Stairway lights were out in some places, soft drink machine on the floor was broken. Room was clean and neat. Housekeeping was good, except we were short a towel on the second day. Amish design quilts a nice touch and the furniture was solid oak. Non-smoking room smelled like smoke. Hotel says they were recently converted from some smoking rooms. There were instructions in the bathroom for how to clean the rubber bath mat in the tub or extra cleaning charges might apply. Small TV, some cable channels but no HBO. Two double beds in the room, as requested, but you can feel the springs in the mattress. Ask for a room in the back to minimize train noise, which didn't bother us. Cold breakfast served in the morning until 10 (not counting hot instant oatmeal). Breads from the Amish bakery the best part, the rest was basic cold cereal, coffee and juice. Checkout was easy, no waiting. I would look into the local bead and breakfast places first.

“A clean hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

I don't know what I expected but this was to me like a Motel 6 except the breakfast was a lot better. It is affiliated with the Amish Acres down the street but is a toned down version of that Inn. It was clean and the staff was very helpful. Check in/out was a breeze. The trains do not bother me because you are basically in the middle of nowhere on a two-lane blacktop road so you cannot expect a Hilton property. One thing I did not like is the fact that they did not have the pool open because of some "red tape". I love the atmosphere and the Amish country. While there we made a day trip up to Shipshewana and that was out of this world. While there you should try the Amish Apple Cidar it is delicious!
