In March of 2009 I was embarking on a new business venture were I am the boss, and this particular project required an on location shoot. Already being nervous for the success of the project itself, I was stressing over the accommodations (everything = my responsibility) for my crew, and being a total novice to traveling didn’t exactly help the situation.
After checking out tons of hotels for the best possible deal I finally decided on the Hampton Inn South Bend/Mishawaka and I am so glad I did! By the time we got to the hotel we had been traveling for 6 hours and had been to the location to finalize details for the next day, so needless to say we were ZONKED when checking in and the staff seemed to have read our minds (or possibly our faces – it’s a toss up as to which) they treated us fabulously!! Starting by asking if they could assist us with anything, restaurant suggestions, info on the area, directions, reservations, etc. (the latter so not in their job descriptions I’m sure).
The lobby was nicely decorated, very warm and inviting. As we approached the elevator I became a bit skeptical as the hallway gave the impression of an older building and the same for the elevator, but my fears quickly diminished when I walked into the room. Nice furnishings (nothing fancy mind you, but very well maintained) and extremely clean! There are several other hotels neighboring The Hampton, and it is located in a bit of a commercial area (strip malls close by) so I was pleasantly surprised at how peaceful it was at night. The beds were super comfy!
Housekeeping honored our all of our requests in a timely fashion and as we were checking out (which was before the butt crack of dawn), the overnight clerk thought we might like some breakfast and handed us a breakfast sack!
If I’m ever in Indiana again, no question as to where I’m staying.
