First of all, you have to understand that I have stayed in Mishawaka 4-5 times in the past by using priceline and getting the Springhill Suites -- which is a great hotel-- for less than $50 a night. So, when priceline booked us at the Extended Stay America, I was disappointed, but figured it would also be nice.
It wasn't, for several reasons:
1. The room- When you say "extended stay", I think of a room with a bed, and a separate room with a couch and tv, in other words, a sleep area and a work/relaxation area. This hotel does not provide that. There's a bed with a tv, a small desk next to the bed, a small table to eat at and that's it.
2. The kitchen- We tried to use the kitchen to cook, but the pots and pans provided very bad, and there were no cleaning supplies. And the kitchen is so close to the bed that when you do go to sleep, it's like sleeping in your kitchen.
3. Maid service- This hotel only uses maid service once a week. So if you check in on Friday for a weekend stay, no one makes up your bed on Saturday. That's not a major thing, but have you ever had that experience at a hotel? Isn't that part of the "hotel experience"? It just seems like a cost-cutting measure that screams "one-star hotel".
4. Internet- The hotel provides wireless computer access for an additional fee, but I couldn't get it to work.
5. The pool and workout room- Non-existant. There's no pool and if you want to work out, you have to go down the road to use a "sister company's" exercise room, which isn't bad, but a little inconvenient.
The bottom line is that I'd hate to spend an extended period of time in this hotel and a weekend seemed too long. How priceline can rate this hotel and the Springhill Suites the same-- two stars-- is completely baffling.
