“Hotel room poor/ Lobby awesome”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Celebrated Sister's 50th Birthday at the Hotel. Went to there Comedy Club for entertainment.
Worse things:
Sleep # bed, bathrooms, view of Atrium bar roof off our balcony, $4.50 for a 8 oz.diet coke at the comedy club. Plus, the waitress added drinks to our bill that no one ordered. Comedian was mad that no one was laughing. Go figure, he wasn't funny. Hallway carpet going to our rooms was so.......dirty. Vent was hanging down in our bathroom w nasty stuff over our sink. Look like there was 2 kid parties going on and they were both in & out of the hot tubs. We chased one group away. The pool was NOT heated. and those our just some things I can think of. Worst part, I paid almost $200 for a $100 Hotel room. They really need a face lift for there rooms.
Best things: Atrium is very pretty, Nice pool w waterfall, 2 hot tubs, Comedy club, Star bucks in Lobby, 2 restaurants, 2 bars, Chicago Pizza next door, and friendly staff.

There are nicer Hotels around this one. Go here if you want the comedy club & bars but sleep somewhere else.

Room Tip: Rooms around the Atrium w balcony view our nice. The waterfall in the pool was awesome and if you c...

“Overall disappointment”

Thankfully, kids don't know a real disappointment when there is one. The hotel has a good reputation, so I figured I would spend the extra money for an atrium room. I won't do it again. The sleep number beds were so worn out that my finger tips became numb from trying to push the control buttons to get the beds to respond. The atrium area is beautiful and inviting, and the pool is excellent. The poolside sauna was out of order but was unlocked. One look inside showed it being used for storage!?!? The hot tubs were cheap, small, fiberglass drop-in models which had broken pieces on them. They were hot though! There is a large area in the atrium with many tables with umbrellas and chairs, but don't try to eat a pizza with the family at those tables! We were quickly warned of a large $200 fine if we did not eat in our rooms, which didn't even have a microwave! To have popcorn we had to use the microwave in the mini-mart by the front desk. I mean, really?? Our room never got above 68 degrees, no matter how high the thermostat was set. The room warmed up after turning the heat OFF! Did I mention the blizzard outside the night before?? The hotel seemed near disserted, but the staff still could not find it in themselves to be more courteous. If the kids hadn't enjoyed themselves so much in the pool the average rating would have been lower. We won't be back.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!

We hosted a birthday pool party there. We rented a cabana which was very nice. The lady at the front desk checked us in, which took about 20 mins. We found our room which was on the 3rd floor. Far away from where our party was going to be which she knew about. So back to the front desk and switched rooms. When we needed to speak to the person about which cabana we had, she sent me to go find her. (Aren't there phones for that?) So we go to our room, which was small. The door to the atrium hall didn't open all the way, it hit the bed. which was a pain for our guests to come in and out of the room. Also the bathroom door hit the toliet when you opened it. In order to use the cabana we had to spend a minimum amount in food or drink on top of the room cost. The cabana seats 10 people I felt the price was high and the food was over priced. I must say the cabanas are the nicest/cleanest part of the hotel. Even though we had no waitress (but there's a big gratuity added) well she brought us a few pizzas once they were ready, no where to put dirty dishes, and not a big enough trash can and it took them over an hour after we were done to clean it. So the party went pretty well the guests left and it was a small group of us left. I went in my room with the kids it was loud you could hear the music from the pool area. I had a flat screen t.v. but there was no point in watching it the reception on the tv was horrible, all blurry and not clear. Good thing they provided free wi-fi. Sleep number bed was not all they cracked up to be. In the morning we went to the star cafe for breakfast, the food was decent but our waitress kept trying to talk to us, like small talk. Umm leave us alone also my daughter asked me to cut her food up and the waitress said she'd do it. Umm no. Then we went swimming the pool was very nice. The hot tubs need some help. They were dirty which if the jets are on you dont notice also the trim around the top was broken and the lower jets didnt work at all. But my biggest problem is how they charged me. They charged my card for the room, we also had a bill for a round at T.J Maloney's thats fine. The problem came from the cabana charges. we were told at check in that they would charge us the minimum food and drink purchase now. thats fine, then tell the bartender/waitress to keep track and tell us when we reach our limit. Sounds easy, she did that and we extened our tab. At the end we signed at the bar. Well, here we are almost 20 days later and the charge for the cabana has not gone thru my bank. Yet the other charges went thru right away. (which I thought I paid that at check in) But, they still have an autherization hold on my credit card. We have called and no one has returned our call (that was 12 days ago).

So I am torn about this place. We did have a great time in our cabana for the party even though i expected more customer service.

Room Tip: If you want to be where the action is go atrium. If you want quiet steer clear from there. The hot...

“Not A Place for Your Family”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We stayed there the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. There was no event at the attached Star Plaza theaters so one would expect a quiet night. Instead, the hotel held a private DJ event in its ball room. Those over 21 went to the event; those under simply stayed and drank in the rooms in large groups and then explored the halls intoxicated. The room next to us had 4 guys staying in it; across the hall 6 girls and this was typical of most rooms up and down the hall. Noise was extreme and it went on until 2:30AM without intervention from a security force that apparently confined their activity to the area of the ball room and bar. At 2:30AM, what sounded like a multiparty fist fight broke out in the room next to us. Several security officers came and yet they did not clear the rooms or the halls for at least 45 minutes. Very simply, not a place for a family, not a place for seniors, not a place to stay if you expect to sleep.

“Not impressed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011 via mobile

The hotel has an indoor pool located right as you walk into the main entrance. The rooms have sleep number beds, so you can adjust to your comfort level. The front desk staff did not seem very professional. Also, the response to room problems was slow.
