My husband and I spent two nights at the Iron Gate Inn. The hostess, Dee, was incredibly gracious and helpful. She asked both of us about our morning preferences to make sure she knew how we took our coffee and whether there were any dietary requirements. The house is gorgeous--furnished in a style that complements the era that the house was built (1840). The room was simply lovely--both elegant and welcoming at the same time. We could look out onto the lovely gardens that surround the walkways and yard.
The breakfast was amazing: it started with a generous fresh fruit compote and homemade coffeecake or bread, then moved on to the main course: one morning a Greek egg casserole with bacon, and the next morning a terrific selection of macadamia nut French Toast. You will not leave the table hungry, I assure you!
The owners clearly have thought about all the little touches that make for a pleasant B&B stay, whether it was the selection of magazines and books available or the butler's pantry that was stocked with supplies and soft drinks. Each room has its own private bath (even though ours was small, we felt more than compensated by the roomy private verandah.) Towels, soap, drinking glasses, etc. were provided in plentiful supply.
If i have one small complaint, it would be the traffic noise. Not much to be done about that. But it was not enough to bother my sleep.
We hope to visit again, perhaps in a warm weather month (we managed to hit a particularly chilly spell, but it didn't detract from our visit in the least.)
