“Looking forward to returning”

In town for a conference, we were expecting to stay at a different property, but were very pleased in the last minute change. The room was very clean and well prepared...you can tell that the housekeeping staff takes pride in thier work. There were extra towels already in the room, and consumable items were refilled daily. The beds were very comfortable, and the pillows were better than ours at home! The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was better that most hotels I've stayed in...a large selection including waffles, boiled eggs, yogurt, breads and more. We will definitely plan on staying here during our yearly visits to Indy.

“OK for an overnight stay but a bit of a dump :-)”

Pros: good location for travelling, staff seemed very nice for the most part, has a guest laundry which was handy, buffet breakfast wasn't bad, pool was OK, plenty of parking, close to fast food outlets
Cons: tired appearance, absolutely stank of cigarettes (even the non-smoking areas), bit of a rough area, located between trailer park and the firework factory, very close to highways, plastic cutlery, noisy aircon

“Perfect for the quick overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

We stayed for an overnight trip to visit the zoo on our way to our final vacation destination. The location was easy and right off the highway. Plenty of restaurants around. The front desk was above and beyond helpful- giving me extra information on pizza deliveries. The hotel itself is a little dated and rundown in areas- worn carpets and such. But we had great service and a great night's sleep. We enjoyed a quick dip in the outdoor pool. Breakfast was wonderful and offered something for everyone- make your own waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, breads, pastries, etc. The rooms were decent size and comfortable. We appreciated the fridge and microwave. All in all it was a great place for a quick overnight trip. Would recommend to anyone for 1-3 night stay in the area. The Indy zoo was a quick 20 minutes down the same street- and a lovely drive through downtown.

Room Tip: Just a note- they have no adjoining rooms.

“Smelly & Outdated”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

I travel often, so I'm a connoisseur in the subject of subpar hotels. This Best Western was pretty terrible and not even worth the price we paid ($98 or something...).

The lobby was fine but even walking down the hallways we noticed that it smelled old and in desperate need of a remodel. Our room smelled thick of deodorizer. We asked for a non-smoking room but halfway though my shower I realized that either smoke was being filtered in from another room OR someone had smoked there previously. We were in too big of a hurry to deal with it, so I just closed the bathroom door before we left for the night.

Despite the smell, the bed was old and lumpy. The pillows were the size of throw pillows and very lumpy, too. After waking up though the night because the bed was SO uncomfortable, I figured out I couldn’t get used to the smell either. We finally ended up leaving at 4 am because it was SO BAD.

I asked for a full refund, but the owner only gave me $25 back. I did not feel this was satisfactory for how terrible the hotel was but I couldn’t be bothered to argue anymore.

I suggest paying an additional $23-$35 per night and staying at a Hampton Inn or something under the Hilton Family!
