“Hotel Room Good/Front Desk Staff Not So Much”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I have stayed at this Westin before and enjoyed it. I like the rooms, I like the restaurant on site. I like the proximity to the convention center.
I don't like the way the staff at the front desk treats you. We were there for a cheer competition and it was very busy - so I can cut them a bit of slack. But if you are not cut out for being able to handle busy - you may need to continue your hotel career in a hotel that is not busy.
The problem I had was that when I checked in they held my entire 2 day stay on my check card. I was told it would be one night not the entire bill plus the $50.00 incidentals. I went down to switch my card and the girl said it may take until Monday for the funds to be released or Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. It took until the following FRIDAY TO RELEASE MY MONEY!! This was a check card not a credit card. This happened to several of our folks.
The front desk seemed to shrug this off like "not my problem".
I am not just a "CHEER MOM" I travel a ton and actually plan events for my company and I like to be treated like a Gold Club member not an inconvienence.

Thank you for the review. We are very pleased you loved the room and location of the hotel. I am sorry about your expirence with the check in process. We are currently doing some brand training updates with the agents and supervisors that worked over that weekend. One part really concerned me though, as you stated you were a seasoned traveler. Most season travelers know not to use there DEBIT CARDS to put down at a hotel, since all hotels will put a hold on the room, tax, and an incidental fee. The agents do alert guests not to use there DEBIT CARDS for securing their rooms as this will take the hold straight from your checking account. Hopefully this is a lesson learned by all, and we look forward to the chance to welcome you back to The Westin Indianapolis in the future.

“Standard hotel, godd location, clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I stayed in the hotel during a business trip and had a nice and spacious room. However, tat his time part of the hotel was under construction and therefore the lobby looked quite shabby. Nevertheless, overall no complaints and the location is really very convenient. There are a lot of things that can be done in walking distance.

“Westin Quality”

Some hotels, such as the Hilton, offer no actual consistency in quality. They are a brand once known for their quality and have degraded into franchisees that take pride and put money back into the property, or do not. The Westin must have better regulations for their franchisees because in general they have a very uniform code of cleanliness, impeccable and modern rooms, helpful staff, and unsurpassed service. This was no different! I err on the side of caution with hotels but this time I can truly give an unsurpassed seal of approval!

“Great Hotel ... in high style!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We stayed at the Westin to be close to the Madame Walker Theater. The location rocks ... the hotel is all dressed up for the Super Bowl and it is connected to the convention center and the Circle Center Mall. I didn't try the food here but the pool and workout area is fantastic.

It's usually pretty pricey but I got it on Priceline for less than half price. The beds were perfect and the dual head shower made me rethink our bathroom design at home.

“Service beyond the call of duty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

My expierience was great before I even arrived with attention to detail I did not expect. When I did arrive at the Westin I was running late and found the front desk to be friendly and accomodating as I needed to be at the Premiere of a movie and was late. John Rabold went into action and made me feel very calm by taking control and speeding up my process moving me to another room with a better view that I could get in right then and now. I found out John was the front desk supervisor, and that made sense as his staff rallied behind him like the true professionals they are. They struck up a conversation and made me feel at home before I had even arrived at my room. They hand delivered me a card signed by the staff welcoming me to the hotel. This is the kind of personal service that has been forgotten in many hotels in my travels.I went up to my room and was so impressed with the view of downtown Indianapolis and the room was beautiful. I could see from my room I was close to everywhere I needed to go and after I dropped of a bag I went down to the lobby and once again the front desk staff was the best. I asked about parking and they explained my options. I asked about directions and they were like a human Garmin. They did all this with a smile on their face. If I thought Siri in my Iphone was helpful, these people put her to shame. I returned to the hotel late and stayed up very late to enjoy the view and the comfort of the room. I slept so well in the comfortaqble bed and luxurious comforter that I over slept and once again the front desk came to the rescue. I could say everyone from the valet parkers, to the front desk made my stay at the Westin one I will repeat. In a competitive world the Westin goes above and beyond the call of duty. See you again soon
