“Is this really a Best Western?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

The Castleton Inn advertises as a Best Western, but there is no BW sign outside. The lady at the desk looked overworked and tired, but the room service was kind. My guess is that this hotel is seriously understaffed. The stairs between the floors were absolutely dirty, for example. Breakfast was extremely poor, the coffee tasted like water and there was barely any bread to be found. The rooms are large enough, the beds were ok; but the walls between the rooms are thin. We had the misfortune to sleep next to a couple that arrived noisily at 4am, and continued partying and making noise until 6.30am.
The Internet connection went down every 10 seconds, which is rather annoying if one wants to check mail, etc.
If this is a Best Western, then the chain had better invest in a renovation if they want to make this hotel attractive again. For the moment being, I'd definitely look for another hotel (there are more than enough places nearby).

Friendly staff, good full breafast, laundramat for guests, fridge and microwave in room, and it was a great location for us near our friends.

“Never again”

We picked this hotel for two equally balanced reasons - it was in the heart of a shopping area and also the price. We had two rooms for 2 couples and while one was uneventful, the other one had a leaking bathroom from the floor above. We asked for a change and got another room that, we discovered the following morn, was also leaking.
Breakfast was not quite there...everyone was waiting (quite a crowd with the Memorial Day long weekend) and the staff appeared to be struggling to decide whether to appease the guests or let them starve. Unfortunately the wait only got the guests exchanging notes of how bad the rooms were and soon the staff decided to get more eats available to quiet the spreading stories.
We reduced our stay by a day and moved to a nearby Drury inn....and what an experience, even if the price was higher.

“I guess you get what you pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

This hotel was moderately priced, so we decided to give it a try while we were in town for a wedding.

They do provide some hot items for breakfast (no meat), but we had to wait about 15 minutes for the eggs to cook in the microwave, the biscuits were dry and hard, and the juices were mis-labeled. It was pretty sad. We ate out the next day.

The building is quite old, and needs renovation. The bathroom fixtures were rusty. The shower curtain smelled moldy. The bed and the bathroom seemed pretty clean, but the carpet was damp and filthy. I made the mistake of walking around barefoot, and found my feet to be very dirty. We didn't let our bare feet touch the carpet after that. If you stay here, take some slippers with you. My recommendation - stay somewhere else - there are a lot of places to choose from.

“Safe but Sparse”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2011

Hotel was well located in a safe and convenient area. We paid $69 + tax for a suite. The room was very sparsely funished and fairly well maintained except for the floor in both the living area and the bedroom. The floor looked like it had not been vacuumed in some time. The sink in the bathroom would drain only if the stopper was manually removed. The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about--we opted to eat in a restaurant. The staff was courteous and helpful.
