“Perfect for the Superbowl!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed 3 nights at this property as I was attending the Superbowl. It was certainly understandable that the hotel was extremely expensive and packed to capacity but the hotel management and staff seemed to have everything under control and handled it well. The room was a nice size and clean. The breakfast was fine. The location in proximity to downtown Indy was perfect. Overall, if I ever have a need to go to this area or if my team plays in the Superbowl for which it is in Indy, I will definitely stay at this property again.

“What a great choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I have come to depend on this site more and more before I book any hotels for my trips. So when planning a trip to Indianapolis for the first time I came here first to look for the best place to stay. Location and price were my first concerns.

There were several good hotels to choose from but this one seemed to be the best all around choice. We were visiting friends, plus attending a event at the Fairgrounds and this seemed to fill the bill.

We were planning on checking in a little later than normal so I called ahead that day to make sure that wouldn't be a problem. The gentleman who answered assured me that they would be holding our room for us. Later When ready to check in we found the hotel easily and within close proximity to our friends home.

When greeted at the desk at check in everything was pre-set for us and check in went very quickly. The lobby was very nice, and it seemed the building was rather new, I'm thinking probably no more than 5-7 years old.

We were placed on the fourth floor, but there was a convienent elevator just down the hallway from the front desk. I liked that we were higher up as it seemed quieter, even with our room being to the front of the building.

The room far exceeded our expectations. Very nicely appointed, with large closet, complete with iron, ironing board, wash basket and safe. The bathroom was adequate and very clean with the usual soap, body cream, shampoo, etc. Next to the closet was a microwave and small refrigerator, with coffee maker and supplies, two bottles of water and some nut bars.

The room was laid out more like a small apartment with very good use of space. A large and comfortable King size bed was close to the window with flat screen TV and Blu ray player. The front part of the room closest to the bath had a longe chair with ottoman, small end table with magazines and writing desk with online hookup there. A notebook gave you all the info needed to access their Internet system.

Decorations were done very tastefully with many pillows on the bed and a down comforter. I liked the idea they didn't use a bedspread, as those can be seldom washed and I always fold those back completely and put out of the way.

Their TV offered a assortment of options: games, recent movies, childrens programing, and your standard TV. The movies were a little pricey ($10.99) so we opted not to view them.

There was breakfast offered in the morning but we opted not to use it. A also added bonus was that they also accepted our AARP discount so the cost to stay here was very good.
The following morning it was easy to access the Interstate and also gas up before getting on the road to head for home. For a one night stay I was sorry I wasn't going to stay longer.

This is the second Wyndham hotel we have stayed at in a month and they certainly are making "believers" out of us.

Room Tip: Make sure you book through their Wyndham Internet site..you might just get a better deal. Also don...

Meezer 3,

I have to tell you that I am impressed by the breadth and depth of your review. It is very typical for a guest to point out one or two amenities that pleased them, but you were able to describe nearly all of the items that we provide in one guest room. You were able to describe this in such eloquent detail that I will likely extrapolate on your descriptions in new sales materials.

Whenever you need a room in Indianapolis, email me (will.wingatenw@yahoo.com) in advance and I will set up everything for you.

“A hidden Gem with personal touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This hotel was a choice for a business trip. The hotel was easy to access, clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The reason I rated it excellent was due to the owners of the hotel. The owners put on a happy hour three times a week where you can get drinks and popcorn. This is always a good touch but once a week the owners cook a meal to be served for happy hour. The owners actually do the cooking and serving of the meal. They served pulled pork that was better than what I could get at a local restaurant that specializes in BBQ.
Personal touch, and a nice place to stay.

LittleBread,

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It is nice to read that people enjoy that extra touch. The foods that are prepared on Tuesday evenings are one of the ways for the hotel to add real value for every guest. The hotel is also making upgrades to the breakfast offered each morning. We will soon be offering porcelain plates and silverware rather than styrofoam and plastic. This upgrade will be completed around the New Year.

“Property nice, staff "okay" but needs improvement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I recently stayed at this location and the property itself is nice. Beds are cool, but a little too firm for my taste. Rooms are nice and all. Here's the issue that I had: there was a FFA convention in town during my stay and some of the attendees were also at this hotel. They had most of the teenagers on one floor and the adults on other floors. The problem is that if they are going to have a large number of teens/kids on one floor, why not put your guests who are NOT part of that group, on a completely different floor so they can be away from the noise and commotion. THe kids were running up and down the halls, screaming in the hallways, rough housing, etc... at one point, a group of girls had dragged their blankets and pillows into the hallway to "camp out" out there and chit chat. I had to call the front desk to complain quite a few times about the noise before I just requested to have my room moved, at 11:30 at night, after I've had my shower, relaxing in my PJs... The 2nd room they gave me smelled like Marlborro country...despite the front desk clerk telling me that it was a non-smoking hotel when I complained about it. So, she had to come back up, and move me to another room... again. That room was not nearly as bad, but because it was next to the cigarette factory, I still smelled some smoke... at this point, I was just ready to unpack again and relax. Then, the adults down the hall had their hotel room doors open and were congregating from room to room and talking LOUD! I have NEVER stayed at a hotel that tolerated this kind of activity. The next night, I had to call down to the front desk again to complain about the noise. THe front desk clerk came up, walked the hall, the kids disappeared and then came back again once he went back downstairs. I do not like sleeping with ear plugs in because If there is an emergency, I want to be able to wake up easy and respond, however, I had to use my earplugs BOTH nights just to block out the noise. It would be nice if this hotel could have some sort of security person on duty that could enforce noise levels, etc... I know it had to be a fired code violation with kids literally lying in the hallways. I don't know if I'd ever stay at this location again. And this was my first time EVER staying at a Wyndham hotel. Not impressed with the staff.

Room Tip: ask if there is a large group staying at the hotel. If there is, ask for a room AWAY from them. If t...

KDL1969,

Thank you for your review. I apologize that your experience was not 100% positive. During the National FFA Convention, the population of the city (and mainly hotels) does swell. However, our staff should have been better prepared to face these challenges. For future events of this magnitude, the hotel will have additional staff on hand to ensure the hallways are clear and keep in constant contact with the chaperones' of the youths for each group.

If you should find a need for overnight accommodations in Indianapolis at some point in the future, call me on my mobile phone (317) 752-2312 and I will take care of your reservation.

“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

My husband and I finally had an overnight to celebrate our 7 year wedding anniversary...a month late to say the least. We were finally going to have about 24 hours free from young children...ahh the bliss of peace and quiet! I had asked the hotel to if they could have a goodie basket with dark chocolates etc as a gift for my husband and they could charge it to my room. They said no problem.
When we arrived, it was an easy check in and the front desk clerk was very polite and helful. Our room was very accommodating and clean. Our room also had the requested chocolates-wonderful selection from a local Indianapolis chocolate business, Best Chocolate in Town. VERY Delicious! We enjoyed our time in the hotel pool and whirlpool...all clean and clean towels available at pool side. Sometimes we find this a problem at other hotels but not here.
The room was very roomy and nice with the jacuzzi suite. Again VERY CLEAN! No mildew or mold in the bathroom. THANK YOU! We've stayed at several 4 and 5 star hotels and have found mildew and mold in the bathrooms as well as holes in the tiles, etc. It was very refreshing that we didn't have worry about anything during this relaxing visit! Of course, breakfast was hot and fresh. Thanks, Jim Olson, for wonderful getaway. Your Wingate by Wyndham was over the top!

Thank you for your wonderful review. Even though our hotel is listed as a 3 star hotel, we can provide many of the amenities offered at a 5 star hotel, and usually at a more cost efficient price. Although, the hotel was "built for business," we do not neglect our leisure travelers. In fact, we have value added items in mind for our leisure travelers including a heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi, DVD player in each guest room & patio area with grill.

The hotel is also located within minutes of several leisure destinations throughout Indianapolis such as: Eagle Creek Park, Northwest Way Park, SportZone, Midwest Sports & Social Complex, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Lucas Oil Raceway & Downtown Indianapolis. The hotel is also working with several golf coarses, the Children's Museum and the Indianapolis Zoo for business & leisure packages.

Again, thank you for your wonderful review!
