“Wedding night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

My new wife and I spent our wedding night at the CY and found the staff very accomodating, the facilities were clean and in good repair. We stayed in one of the jacuzzi rooms and enjoyed it very much. We didn't get to have breakfast due to the holiday, and did not see the fitness center. Overall, I was pleased with my single night stay at the CY.

“Very comfortable, great value!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

The young man, Joshua, in reception was most welcoming and made us feel comfortable as soon as we arrived. The room was clean, bathroom modern and all the plumbing worked. Tv was flat screen but still CRT. Wifi worked well, exercise room had only one treadmill but there were exercise bikes, stairmaster, and most important cleaning wipes! Breakfast was up to the usual good Marriott standard. Overall, it was what I have come to expect from Courtyard by Marriott, no surprises, just solid value. If I could, I would give it three and a half stars.

Thank you for your review!

We are always excited to see great reviews about our fantastic staff! Expecially when they get mentioned by name!

I am sorry to say you missed our brand new flat screen TVs by 1 day! As of 11/16/2011 we have completed the entire hotel in brand new TVs and were able to get rid of all those old CRTs!

Thanks again for the review! We are excited to see you again when you return to Fort Wayne.

“Handicapped Room Well Equipped”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

I'm not handicapped but I asked for a room where the noise from the TV wouldn't bother anyone, and I was put in a quiet corner room that was fitted for a handicapped person. The toilet was raised, there were several grab bars, the bathroom was spacious, there was a stool to sit on in the tub, and the shower head was adjustable at two levels. Otherwise, the room was clean and nicely accessorized. The light was dim and the TV did not get a lot of channels and did not offer a closed caption option. The room above me was noisy. I paid $50 plus taxes and fees at Priceline and felt my purchase was a good buy. The breakfast was good and offered a good number of options. However, that being said, I thought it was included in the price of the hotel but I was given a bill for about $4.00. In spite of the surprise, I felt the breakfast was well worth it.

“A solid Courtyard if they get the internet speed to something reasonable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

For context, I travel a lot for work and have stayed in many Courtyard hotels and other similar brands.

This is a good hotel. It has been updated and is relatively fresh. The rooms are comfortable, with enough lighting. Breakfast was better than average for this style hotel.

The biggest drawback is the internet speed. It is absolutely unacceptable. I wasn't trying to watch video or play games or anything. Just getting weather.com or espn.com to load took an eternity. The front desk recognized this and said that work is going on "as we speak" to significantly upgrade the bandwidth. If you rely on a reasonable internet connection, I would NOT stay at this hotel until the hotel finishes this upgrade. It's clear from previous reviews that they have claimed to be working on it in the past. I challenge the manager (who will probably respond to this post) to confirm completion of the upgrade. Until then, you will regret staying at this property.

A few more facts. The property is two floors and has no elevator. The staff offered to help me with my bag (which was unnecessary). The gym has one each of: treadmill, stepmill, elyptical, reclining bike. It has a set of free weights but no weight machines at all. It is easy to walk to several restaurants, including a sports bar/grill and a Thai restaurant (which was not bad).

“Very Sad for a Courtyard”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

My stay at this particular Courtyard was soured within 3 minutes of walking in the door. I walked up to the desk, told him my name and the desk agent said that they had me placed in a room with 2 doubles which being a lone traveler isn't ideal for my situation. I politely asked if a King room would be possible. Being a Priceline customer probably 200 plus times over the past couple of years i know that usually if you ask and they have availability that the hotel will usually try to accommodate you.

When i asked if a King room would be possible i was sternly told "yes but it would be a $25 charge". Considering the room itself was only slightly more than that amount on Priceline I obviously told the agent where he could go with his $25 "upcharge". In my 200 plus Priceline bookings this is THE FIRST time i've even been asked to pay more money than my prepaid reservation. The hotel was at least 90% empty so i didn't appreciate no effort being made to accommodate me. After a few words back and forth i was told that he would do it for only $10 IF i paid cash. I told the agent to go do a certain something to himself.

The property itself is quite old and outdated and not up to any sort of Courtyard standards that i've become accustomed to. There really wasn't much to like about the room at all. The carpeting was newer and in good shape. The television was a relic from the Clinton administration, the bed and mattress were so old that the mattress had a horrible sag on the most used side and made a decent nights sleep quite challenging.

The bathroom continued this trend with a damanged counter top that had a large chunk of it missing and cracks all around the Kleenex dispenser. The tub was old and stained although i believe it to be clean.

The high speed internet was quite slow and like so many other ameneties of this hotel not up to Marriott standards.

Michtraveler,

Thank you for your review. We are in the process of looking into your mention of paying cash as we take this informaiton very seriously.

We have been doing a lot of construction over the past 6 months installing upgrades. We do have flat screen TVs just not flat panel. We will be installing those within the next few months. Our internet has also recently been upgraded and we are now running 4x faster then we were previously.

I would recommend trying us again as I am sure you will be greatly surprised with our improvements.
