Updated decor in this Residence Inn was an unexpected change in this older hotel. Room picked up some noise from Jefferson Boulevard, so if you're a light sleeper ask for the east side. Friendly staff. Nice appetizer buffet. Have stayed in the other Residence Inn in town and was very disappointed there. This is much nicer and a better maintained property.

Our family of 4 spent 2 nights here over the 4th of July weekend. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite that was clean, comfy and spacious, and it was bigger than our former apartment. The location was convenient for our trip to nearby car museums in Auburn, Indiana and to Indianapolis for the King Tut exhibit at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. Rates were not outrageously hiked up for the 4th of July weekend like some other hotels were doing closer to Indy and we also had a plethora of nearby restaurants for dining options. The hotel's own included breakfast had a good selection of choices to suit everyone in our family including our very picky 4 and 7 year olds. We would stay here again the next time we're in the area.

Our prior experiences in Ft. Wayne included stays at The Quality Inn Fundome and another chain hotel nearby. This Residence Inn was as expected, clean, friendly staff, great breakfasts, nice pool and hot tub. We were there with three other families, a total of 6 adults and 9 kids. The 9 kids had some "unruly" moments, and we, as parents, tried our best to keep them in line. The hotel staff was very understanding and patient. A couple of the other guests were not as reasonable. We recognized, as did the hotel staff, that the comlaints about the kids were more to get rewards points than to actually complain. It happens. We laughed about them with the staff! They do have a DVD player, but it cannot be hooked up in the lobby, it must be hooked up to your room TV. They also have an X-Box but it is in the conference room, and a parent must be present while it is being used.

It might be unfair to compare this hotel to the Quality Inn. Our stay there (also on this web site) was not so great, nor was the location very good. But the QI had a huge pool and game area, so the kids never got bored! On the other hand, we have a preference to Residence Inn no matter where we go.

This was my second stint for about a week with company training. The first time, I was alone and the room size was big for one person but I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the room. The latest time, I brought my wife and 2-year-old. We got the 2 room suite and since there was a pull-out couch my daughter could sleep there while we were cornered in the other room. There is a kitchenette and all countertops are 'modernized' but the appliances (fridge, stove, & dishwashers) must not have been in their plans when they updated the last time...Front desk people are helpful and nice. Most nights of the week while we were here, they offered free refreshements in the lobby for an hour-and-a-half. This ranged from sandwiches to BBQ depending on which night of the week and they offered free beer too. There is also a patio area outside with a grill if you want to swim, grill, play basketball on their court, etc. The only drawbacks would be that the living room furniture could be a bit more comfy and the elevator could move faster. Other than that, it was a pretty comfortable stay.
