Arrival :
Decent lobby, fast check in with the trainee…. Just before leaving the desk “by the way – the internet is down – it will be back tomorrow (ok, I’m tired – I can survive without responding to customers tonight)…. Off to the room.
Room #1 smelled like a toilet and on inspection the bed looked like someone had recently taken a nap in it.
Back to the lobby – confused front desk trainee was very nice but forgot to apologize for the room issue and took a while to get me an alternate room. Off to room #2.
Room #2. … Drawers in every cabinet/nightstand/dresser pulled open/off the hinges, seat cushions overturned, looked like the place had been cased for drugs. The upside – the bed doesn’t look like it has been slept in and the bathroom hasn’t recently been used. Ok – I’m tired, I’ll put the room back together and crash.
Nights 2,3,4….. Every night there is a different excuse about the internet. Now, I understand not everyone needs the internet but for those of us juggling multiple work issues who need not just to check email but to VPN to remote sites not having a couple of hours in the evening to skip the (lame stations) TV and work is a major issue.
Night 2…. I asked why the promised return to service hadn’t happened and was offered 500 “Marriott points”. For those who aren’t members it takes 50 times that amount of points (if you’re lucky to score a saver award) for a SINGLE night stay at their hotel. So – 500 points is like saying ‘here – have a cracker”. In fact I only asked because I was headed to the “pantry” to see if they had microwave popcorn (they were “out”). I’d rather have had the cracker. I left a card and asked that the manager offering this “reward” please call me.
Night 3…. They promised the wired internet was working, but I found it cut out so often I was better off connecting to someone’s Android who hadn’t secured it to get email. Again, another night of not being able to help other customers.
Night 4 …. Apparently someone lite a fire under the internet service because they are so bent on getting the wireless up and running that the (previously sub-standard) wired internet is now down.
Summary….. Nice staff, inconsistent QA on room cleaning, Nasty breakfast (Jimmy Dean rolls in the frige to toss in a microwave, bad management (I never heard from the manager I asked to call me).
Bottom line - I won't be back
Room Tip: Try for any room someone hasn't recently used to take a nap
