I am a single female traveler. I often stay at the closest Holiday Inn, or Holiday Inn Express because I am familiar with them and also a rewards club member. I chose to stay at this Holiday Inn because it was Super Bowl Sunday and I thought it would be fun to watch the game in the bar with other travelers who had to be on the road that evening. I checked in to my room only to find it had a walk in shower, no tub. The thermostat also would not budge from 68 degrees; normally a tolerable temperature but I wanted to warm up having just spent several hours on the road. No heat. No tub. I went to the front desk and advised the young woman there of the problem with the thermostat while also asking for a room with a tub. Her initial response was that the only rooms with tubs were Jacuzzi rooms. I refused to believe that and after she made a phone call she discovered that there were rooms with tubs and moved me. (She explained that she was new.) My new room was at the far end of a long hallway. After arriving there I quickly ascertained that this thermostat was also set at 68 degrees. It has the appearance of being able to alter the temperature. (Do not be fooled. You can’t.) When I went down to the bar to watch the game there were two other patrons there. In fact, I was told that there were only 9 rooms rented out for the night! Kathy, the bartended was very friendly and helpful as was the young man whose name I forget. I know I should be grateful that the hallways were quiet, but I kept thinking about the movie The Shining. Every time I had to walk down that long, long hallway I felt vulnerable and creeped out. I never saw or heard another soul. I suppose if you are attending an event at the Coliseum this would be the ideal place to stay. Lack of thermostat control also made for a very uncomfortable night. I will not be staying there again for an overnight business stay.
