“The extras make this a great deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

Very conveniently located on the northside of Evansville right on the highway from Terre Haute to Evansville, the Drury Inn was an easy find. Evansville does not have many (any?) hotels ranking above three stars, and I would put the Drury at the top of the options. Although the room was not large, it was certainly adequate, and had a refrigerator and microwave. The WiFi is free, which was a big plus as I had to do some research to find gluten free restaurant info. The staff at the front desk was very efficient, friendly and helpful--offering directions to the restaurant and parking suggestions for the concert we were attending. It would be possible for most people (without dietary restrictions) to eat dinner at the hotel because they offer three drinks per person and food at no cost for a couple of hours in the evening. The night we were there they served hot wings, beef hot dogs, baked potatoes, nachos, and more. In the mornings they offer a breakfast buffet that includes sausage, scrambled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereals, juices/coffee/milk, waffles, bagels, etc. at no charge. [This would have been wonderful in the days when we were traveling with two young boys or teenagers; it would have saved us the cost of two family meals for 4!] There were enough options that I could have their breakfast despite food allergies, and I really appreciated that. Although we did not use them, there is a pool and exercise room (about 3-5 treadmills/ex. bikes). Everything was clean and we felt safe in the area. While we were there many construction and utility crews were also staying the the hotel and there are train tracks nearby, but our room was quiet and we were never disturbed. We definitely would stay at this hotel again. I do think it is time to update the mattresses and TVs in the rooms. We slept OK but most hotels that charge around $100--including other Drury Inns we have stayed in--have more up-to-date bedding and TVs. There is a Denny's right next door for those who want more food options than what the inn offers without having to drive.

Room Tip: I would recommend 3rd floor or higher on the southside of building and toward the rear. The elevato...

“Great for families with sports events”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We spent one night as a family during a weekend soccer tournament. The staff was very responsive and helpful (and very kind considering the TONS of kids staying there). It is in a good location, although it's a few miles away from the crowded main drags where there was lots of traffic. For families going to soccer at the Goebel Complex, the location was great.

Room was dated but adequately clean. Lots of fluffy pillows, a microwave and refrigerator, comfortable beds. The bathroom is small but the shower had a dispenser with shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner mounted in the shower, so that was a nice surprise. Vanity area is outside of shower/toilet room, so one can use sink while another is in shower.

We did not use the pool or hot tub. The complimentary Happy Hour and breakfast were very nice—more food at both than I would have expected. I assume the hotel was full or nearly full with noisy kids and families, and yet everything was still under control and not claustrophobic feeling.

Random things to know: no bathroom fan; there is one washer and dryer available if you need to do laundry.

Overall a good experience and we will likely stay there again.

“Nice hotel for needing a clean, quick, place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

My husband and I were in town for a wedding that we were both in. We didn't want to stay with the rest of the wedding party at an expensive hotel downtown and decided to rather stay at a more affordable hotel that was closer to the reception. The whole hotel definitely needs some updating. The rooms were small but cozy and the TV was somewhat fuzzy- we also had to air out the room a bit because it felt a bit stale. The bathrooms were definitely tiny with hardly enough room for one person to navigate in. The manager on hand was very friendly- although one employee later on that night seemed a bit put off by a simple request we were making based on what the earlier manager had told us.

Having said all of that- the rooms were all clean and well taken care of and it definitely was worth the money we saved. I recommend this hotel for people who don't plan on staying in the hotel long except to mainly shower and sleep and who aren't bothered by minor inconveniences like outdated decor and a semi fuzzy TV.

Room Tip: Upgrading to a suite might be a wise idea especially if you're needing a room with double beds...

“Most hospitality I've ever experienced!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We were greeted at the desk with a big smile and questions about our trip--where we were from, how long did it take us, etc. It made us feel like we were important.
The room was real nice and we got to bring our dogs--free!!! Tell me another hotel that does that!! Everyone in the hotel staff, were so happy and helpful...it was just amazing! The hotel was kept extremely clean, day and night. Only a single cup coffee pot in the room; would bring my own next time. Drinks and food---free--every night. Some call it snacks; I agree with most--dinner!! We had hot dogs, nachos, salad and much more! Better than the hotels that give you drinks and just chips and pretzels! Breakfast in the morning. Once again, Free!!! Better breakfast than I make at home!! (Just wish it would last till 11 a.m.; wanted to sleep in a little.) Swimming pool and hot tub were nice. With the weather being so hot, would have loved an outdoor pool! (Drury Inn--is that possible??!! :O) Close to most anything you would need....malls, Walmart, etc.
Have nothing negative to say except I hope you build more hotels all over and especially in Michigan!!!
Thank you, Drury Inn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: The view from our room was acres of corn fields--I think we lucked out, because the other side faced...

“Worst hotel on cross-country trip!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

This Drury was the worst hotel we stayed in on our family cross-country trip - no - the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. I highly suspect the good reviews it has on Tripadvisor. I can't blame employees who need to keep their jobs in this economy, but this isn't fair to the rest of us. The problem is simple - the hotel has not been renovated in a VERY long time. The carpets are worn and dirty in the halls and in the rooms. The last time I saw furniture and decorating like this was in a nursing home - 20 years ago. The mattress springs are so old that the bed swayed like a waterbed when we got on it (me 124 lbs, husband 160lbs). During the sleepless night, I guessed how many pounds the mites might weigh in a mattress that old. The linens were worn out. The room smelled of stale cigarettes. The bathtub was dingy and the room so small that had it been one inch smaller, the door wouldn't have opened. I can't remember the last time we stayed in a room that cost us $124 that had a tube TV. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat the breakfast there as we worried what the non-public areas looked like when the rooms were so poor. Unlike every other review I have ever written, I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this hotel.

Room Tip: Bring bathroom disinfectant
