“Nice Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary by staying here last weekend. First off this is not the typical kind of place we usually stay in, so It might of impressed us more than a traveler who frequents these type of hotels regularily. We loved the view and the rooms
were awesome. The huge shower with the rainforest faucet and extra jets was just incredible. We enjoyed our stay and love that it was right across the road from the riverboat. The Irish Pub next door was a very happening joint, must of had a couple hundred people there partying inside and out till atleast 3am. We enjoyed the breakfast
each morning, nothing special but alot nicer than most. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The only negative thing I can think of was the pillows on the bed were so big
that my neck was pretty sore when I woke up. Bring your own pillow if you don't care for extra fuffly ones.

Room Tip: Rooms were real quiet, Don't have to worry about a noisy air condtioner going of fand on allnigh...

“Nicest overall business accomadations I've experienced.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

I had an opportunity to stay at the Le Merigot for a night on July 20th. Overall the room was amazing. It has a very modern look, with modern furnishing, excellent mood lighting that the guest can adjust, great internet service, HD Flat screen TV's in both the room and the bathroom.

In fact, the bathroom itself sets this hotel apart from any other I've been in. Flat screen on the wall. Very modern sink and roomy vanity. An enclosed shower with four different shower heads and excellent water pressure. A separate toilet. Two people could be getting ready to take on the day in the bathroom, and not feel crowded. Lots and I mean lots of towels and even a bath robe you are welcome to use.

The actual room itself is nice. I found the king size bed to be very comfortable and the desk a nice place to get my work done. The HD TV is great, however, I like to sit at the desk and work on my computer while watching TV and since the flat screen is mounted to the wall--you couldn't see it from the desk. As one other reviewer noted, the furniture is starting to show it's age a little bit. There's a chip here or there and you can tell it's been used a little, but it's still nice, it doesn't make the room look junky or anything.

My one criticism of the room would be that the maid missed cleaning a couple of places on the floor over by the window. I could see a few crumbs and someone's clipped finger nail. While not the grossest thing I ever saw in a hotel room, I expect more from a hotel that's trying to "play" at such a high caliber.

Some other random thoughts:

I thought the staff was wonderful. The continental breakfast left a little to be desired for my tastes but fit with the hotel's vibe. There is no restaurant right at the hotel, but literally across the driveway was a Restaurant, and there are 4 or 5 other choices in the casino complex--there's definitely some type of food for everyone. The bar fits the vibe of the hotel too, however, service is mediocre at best. (The people I met with seemed to indicate that seemed to be the general consensus among their group, and why the bar was somewhat empty after work and throughout the evening.)

It also seems (and I'm not from Evansville, so this is from very limited experience) that on the waterfront, you're sort of limited to the casino district and things on the Riverfront. The neighborhood bordering that out by the expressway seemed somewhat seedy too. But I can't really say, I'm just giving a very general thumb nail first impression. That said, for business, or a weekend at the casino, it works very well!

This hotel is definitely the best accommodations and overall vibe I've experienced while traveling for business or pleasure. Impressive accommodations!

“Great Hotel and thoughtful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

I stayed here while in Evansville for a funeral. The hotel in clean, modern and has many unique design features. I would think it is the best hotel in town but this was my first trip to Evansville in 20 years so I don't have any basis for comparison. The hotel is on par with top of the line hotel in cities like Chicago or New York. I was very impressed by the thoughtfulness and compassion of Ashley who checked me in.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Evansville.

“Uncomfortable beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

The hotel is very nice and luxurious, but the double queen beds in my room were extremely HARD and UNCOMFORTABLE. I had a horrible night's sleep. I have never been in a hotel with such uncomfortable beds. The bed was THE most uncomfortable bed I've slept on in my life.

“A nice splurge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2011

Decided my husband & I needed 24 hrs away by ourselves so I splurged & got at room at Le Merigot. I never knew there was such a nice hotel in Evansville. The room was large & comfortable. There were only a few things I would change. A nite-lite in the bathroom so you can see where you're going in the dark (& not run into any of the glass doors--you can't really flip the light on because it would shine out into the room & wake whoever you're with!) and also better lighting in the bathroom, not bright enough for putting on your makeup. A very nice breakfast with many choices was available. We had a nice view of the river from our room, the Casino was directly across the street for those who like to gamble...We would probably stay again if we decided to splurge again! (Felt slightly cheated that they had Fiji water available in the more expensive suites when we had smaller more generic bottles in our room)
