I booked this Holiday Inn Express based on other positive reviews and I was NOT disappointed! The young lady and the check-in desk was friendly, pleasant and efficient. She had our keys already prepared and we were offered a nice cold bottle of water and a choice of a snack from a well-stocked basket of various candies and chips. There was also a plate of nice looking cookies available on a side table.
Traveling with two teenage boys, we reserved a room with two queen beds. The room was comfortable, immaculately clean, and nicely appointed. Upon entering, the room had no "off" smells and the temperature had been thoughtfully set to a comfortable level prior to our arrival (it was an abnormally warm day for late April). Our room included a refrigerator and microwave that was not listed on the room description (but definitely a pleasant surprise). The room was pleasantly decorated in restful colors, the beds were quite comfortable and each bed had four fluffy pillows. In fact, this is the first time I have stayed in a hotel in a very long time that I haven't woken with sore or tender spots in my back. There was also a hand-written note from the housekeeper wishing us a pleasant stay.
There were plenty of fluffy bath sheet sized towels and there was REAL (not industrial strength) toilet paper in the bathroom.
Lastly, breakfast was outstanding. We arrived in the breakfast area at peak time. It was hot, well-stocked and offered a fantastic choice ranging from fresh fruit and cereal, warm cinnamon rolls, french toast, various breads and muffins, crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were warm; crispy / flaky on the exterior and fluffy on the inside. The coffee was some of the best "hotel" coffee I have experienced. I personally did not try the eggs, but my husband and sons were impressed with their texture and flavor. The breakfast alone added a tremendous value and savings for our family of four.
Even though the property is located on the far western edge of Evansville, it's definitely worth the extra few minutes' drive for the quality!
