“best thing about it, no bugs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

I will not stay here again. Room was uncomfortable, not expecially clean, found a long black hair when I pulled back the sheet, a/c didn't work, had to open window. Good thing I was on 2nd floor. Glad I only had to stay for 8 hours of sleep.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here.

“Not if I could Help It”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

Well, "good" things first: the desk clerk was very nice and the room was clean enough.
Now, the "bad" things. The bed was hard as a rock. The two Skimpt pillows were very poor and insufficient to sit up with. The lounge chair was broken so I really had to sit on the bed. After a long day driving, I wanted to relax watching TV. The so-called "satellite" TV only received the following channels: 1. HBO, 2. ESPEN, 3. Discovery 4. CNN 5, NBC 6. ABC 7. WGN That's all, folks! Terrible !

Also, only one towel andone washcloth in room. Yes, they brought more when I called down but someone should really see to things like that.
The supposed "continental breakfast" serves 1. decent coffee but terrible "creamer" (and I use the term loosely, 2. the World's worst, cheapest, most awful donuts, 3. something they call "organe juice" which has never seen an orange, and 4. a stack of white bread which you can put in the toaster if you like. Period.

The air conditioner was only "pretty cool" when set on maximum. The plastic "dierctional" slats were broken.

OH< they used to allow dogs, but don't anymore, so, if you are travelling with your pet, check a different motel.

“Uncomfortable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2009

That sums it up. My room was utterly uncomfortable. I was there for a week working at a local power company. My room consisted of a old, well past due bed that was hard and warped, two flat, misformed pillows, two wooden chairs with hard padding, a desk, a 20" tv with four channels (because they have been "affected" by the digital TV switchover LOLROFL) and a bathroom. There was nowhere that I could feel comfortable in this room. I cant complain too much though. The room was very clean. The internet worked in my room (room 216). The internet only works near the lobby, the outside rooms do NOT have internet access. It was rediculously close to the indiana dunes. If you are not going to spend much time in your room, this is a great hotel for a quick overnight stay, because it is the BAREST of necessities. I stayed here because of the super cheap rate through Corporate Lodging.

“PrizeStaff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2009

Upon realizing I had not set up my reservations for a trip in 5 days, I contacted Super 8 Chesterton, and had the most pleasant young man help me. His accomodating manner made me relax in knowing that he would take care of us. You couldn't ask for more. I'm looking forward to my stay.

“Not real happy with this Super 8.”

This is a great location for the Dunes area but our stay was unusual. When we checked in the first problem was what appeared to be dried feces on the underside of the breadspread. When that was pulled back, there were small stains on the pillow cases and sheet. We had two double beds, both sheets had small stains. The bed linens were yellowed and should have been retired long ago. They were nice about it, gave a new spread and pillow cases immediately. We left our room the next morning and I asked staff to please change the sheets and leave more towels, since there were few. This was done. The following day, when we returned to our room in the afternoon, nothing had been done. No made bed, no clean linens, nothing. Went to the desk and questioned what happened and was told by someone who was constantly sitting in the lobby area, that you have to tell the front desk when you leave if you want something done to your room or what you need! Say what? You have to TELL them you need clean towels? In a beach community? In contrast, before leaving that day, we were in our room when staff just opened the door without knocking at all! She looked at me and said "Oh, sorry, just wanted to see if you needed coffee.". Without knocking! Aside from bath and bed linens being thin and discolored, there was a chair by a desk that was so stained we had originally asked for a different room. But that room did not have a refrigerator, as we requested, but it did have the microwave that we asked for but didn't get! So we just switched chairs, ourselves! And along with all this, the furniture was really shabby. Nicked and scraped and ill-fitting. It would not be a concern usually, but when you put it all together, there must be better options. The only positive note I can say was the bathroom was clean. The continental breakfast passable. And front desk staff was friendly, when there.

  • Liked — Location
  • Disliked — Shabby, dirty room. Old (sometimes soiled) linens.
