We have many friends and relatives in the vicinity yet my new husband insisted we stay at the Brookville Inn. Wow... was I surprised that an inn of such high quality would be found off the beaten path in a small Midwestern town. The home is beautiful inside and out, your first impression being the pretty yet comfortable furniture for relaxing on the front porch. Innkeeper Keith Abbott promptly answered the door with a welcoming smile. We stepped in from the oppressive August afternoon to the cool of central air conditioning. Keith showed us about the house (wife Taya was out on errands but we met her at breakfast) and helped us settle in our lovely room... practically a suite. Large armoire, wicker sofa, unobtrusive TV, plenty of lamps and a fantastic four poster bed in the main room, painted the willow green of its name, accented with dark red print fabrics. Through a small alcove was a sleek and modern bath room (ALL rooms have private bath) with a large glassed-in shower, nice bath amenities, and lots of white, fluffy towels. Keith had pointed out the snacks and beverages available in the parlor, as well as a sizable library of DVDs for use in your room... complimentary of course. We were given several suggestions for dining, including a popular waterfront restaurant just a short distance away on Brookville Lake. A tasty breakfast is served buffet style between 8 and 9am, so no problem with matching any other guest's schedule. Taya joined us for a short while at breakfast, as charmng and conversational as her husband. The Brookville Inn attracts many frequent and repeat guests... business people visiting the Cincinnati area, parents from nearby Miami (of Ohio) University, girlfriend getaways spending time at the lake or the tiny tourist town of Metamora, couples week ends, reunions. The Abbotts have returned to their roots after successful careers in the East and they bring the best of both worlds to their B&B, all in all, a destination in itself. I'm looking forward to our next trip to Indiana.
