The lobby is spacious and visibly interesting with a collection of memorabilia, also providing seating and easy access to the restroom. Just what we want when we walk in the door after a long drive. We feel comfortable. We are repeat visitors. The polite and cheerful staff welcome us and swiftly prepare us for our destination.
Our accomodations smell clean (not that perfumy odor we have encountered elsewhere), look clean and inviting. The room was convenient to access from the parking lot. All of the usual amenities are included. The room was nicely decorated and had plenty of space to navigate without feeling cramped. We didn't hear any neighbors or outside noises to disturb us, and had a very comfortable and restful nights sleep. The breakfast is so convenient and is available for hours, the bagels, waffles, cereal, fresh fruit and coffee are just a few items offered, and breakfast is included.
Don't hessitate to ask the staff for help with directions. Hannah was kind enough to Google directions for us, to confirm that I was on track, assuring that I wouldn't have a problem finding a community park ( check out Bloomington's Parks and Recreation calendar ) in the dark away from familiar roads and landmarks. Thanks to the extra attention we were given at A SummerHouse Inn we made ourselves at home and had a memorable visit to Bloomington and Brown County Indiana.

We stayed at the Summer House Inn October 2011. The hotel lobby was good. We checked into our room that wasn't impressive by any standards. Crooked ceiling tiles in bath room, Bath tub was not clean. we walked to the lobby and there was liquor bottles all over the picnic tables. All of the outside hall lights were out so it was dark. The carpets were filthy..... if you walked on them your feet turned brown.....We plugged in three phones into all different outlets and not one of them charged. Breakfast was supposed to be served at 7... We had a very early morning , instead of rushing we planned on eating at the hotel. We were waiting at the door at 7:10 and the doors were still locked....The employee was just coming in... We went back to our room for coffee and the coffee pot was filthy..... so we had to leave for coffee..... When we took showers the tub would come out warm but the shower was freezing no matter how long you left it on. I had to take a bath in the dirty bath tub...Not a pleasant experience. I love staying in small non chain hotels....but this is one I was NOT impressed with. Upon Checkout I asked for a comment card or to speak with a manager I was told to write my complaints on a piece of paper...... I left my # hoping to hear a response but heard nothing...Just a simple sorry from the girl working the desk..... I would advise finding somewhere else to stay......Next time I will pay the $185.00 to stay at the Holiday Inn.... I wish I would have had my camera to take pics!!

Staff was fantastic! They went above & beyond to make our stay comfortable.

This hotel has a nice lobby (although it smells like smoke) and friendly staff. I would work on getting a better housekeeper. In my second room (first non-smoking room was dirty and smelled like smoke) I had to buy cleaning products at Target and wipe down the furniture, spray the carpet with deodorizer. The comforter had a stain. The blinds would not completely close and being right on the parking lot we had no privacy. The chairs had stains and the arms were covered in sticky dirt that would not wipe clean. I know that remodeling is expensive, but it isn't that hard to keep things clean. The hotel really needs to put in new carpet, furniture and a parking lot or make the standard rate $50 a night.
