“Nice, basic, clean hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

My parents and I traveled to the Chicago area to visit relatives and we selected this property based on these reviews. We were very satisfied with our room and the continental breakfast. We spent most of our time visiting relatives in nearby Darien and it was nice to come back to the hotel, where a clean room awaited us. The mattresses on the double beds were wonderful and provided a good night's sleep. Our room was on the second floor, parking lot side--which made it a bit more quiet. The continental breakfast had a basic menu of cereals, yogurt, fruit, waffles (make your own), baked goods, juice and coffee. The staff was friendly and accommodating...and for $81.00 per night (not including taxes,etc)...I thought (but most especially my elderly parents) it was a good deal. I will definitely try to book my stay the next time I am in the area. Just a side note: Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket, which was featured a few years ago on the Food Network's program , "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives "is only a few minutes from this property. We ate there on our last night and it was a very busy place but the server was great and the food was good.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the parking lot side of the property because this property is right off of Rte...

“Oldest automatic doors in Illinois (or some such thing)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

When we entered this elder statesman of lodging, we were met with some strange folding doors. While at the counter just inside they opened and closed, seemingly at random. Mark told us they were the 'oldest automatic doors in Illinois' I think it was. 40 years old! Wait!? that means the hotel is 40 years old? Well, yes but it was upgraded 'a while back'. It still has low ceilings, 30in counters and small shower/tubs. No curved shower rods here : )
The staff were nice.
The rooms all have LOUD single unit AC/heat and most rooms have a little road noise. If you don't sleep soundly this is not the place for you.
Did I mention that the shampoo smells like a Creamsicle? God, that brought back memories of childhood. Hair was pretty frizzy though.
The one unsettling thing was the State Trooper stationed outside one of the first floor rooms for more than 2 days. The front desk would only agree there was a StateTrooper there and I didn't have the guts to ask the officer if he was there for the occupants protection or ours.
Breakfast is pretty limited- there are StarBucks and Caribou coffee places available by car and Dennys is a reasonable walk, along with a Cool Kerry Irish pub, but it's not a place really made for walking.
All in all, I won't be back. I'd give it a FAIR, but 2 stars seems a bit harsh so it's a low 3 star.

Room Tip: For a good room, call the SpringHill Suites instead.

“Everything We Needed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

The LaQuinta Inn, Willowbrook, IL was a pleasant 2 night stay. There are no bells and whistles, but they have the basics right. I was greeted warmly without standing in a line. My reservation was correct and already processed. Directions and recommendations were accurate and clear. The place was quiet in spite of being packed both nights.
Now to the important things: The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Give me those two things and I am a happy camper. My wife noticed immediately that the blankets were double sheeted. She could relax.
It is not a new facility, but it was maintained and unlike some places, there seemed to be some pride taken in the way things were kept. The breakfast was only the basics. No imagination was evidenced, but once again, all the basics were covered. The workout room was clean and adequate. Although not quick to be at the front desk all the time, the staff was helpful and able to think outside the box.
This hotel will inexpensively meet your needs and give you little to complain about. I will be back.

Room Tip: 102-105 are close to a door with parking spots that are always open.

“Updated and still a great deal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We recently stayed here 2 nights while in town for a wedding. The property has been updated since our last stay and looks great. The baths could stand some updating; paint, tile and lo flow toilets, but overall, very good. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is nothing to shout about, but good to get you on your way to a tastier lunch. Location is good, too; right on I55 and Route 83. This is our go to lodging while in the greater Chicago area.

Room Tip: Sure to be quieter on the parking lot side rather than the interstate!

“Pauper's Fitness Room"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

Used to love the hotel's cleanliness, roominess, breakfast, wi-fi, and fitness center. But last weekend I found they emptied out the fitness room and have only 3 machines: 1 treadmill and 2 stair steppers. NO RECUMBENT BIKE. NO STATIONAIRY BIKE.
I know it is only one omission, but when pick a hotel, we have a list of minimum requirements including a fitness center with exercise bikes, so this one is OUT until further notice.
