I stayed at the Westin Chicago twice in 2011. I stayed for 3 nights in October and again in November. I find the property to be very lackluster for a Westin. The service is VERY marginal, the onsite amenities are almost non-existent, and the property lacks the uniqueness that usually defines Westin properties. First and foremost, the room service is a joke at this property. You would expect 24 hour room service and access to the full menu. Instead, they don't have the ability to fulfill their "late-night" menu. On two separate occasions they did not have any of the items listed on their late night menu and could only offer me a PB&J. The breakfast, however, is delicious but only because of the roasted potatoes. The amenities are also a joke, the first time I visited there was only one very formal restaurant open on property. The second time I visited another place had opened, but the pool/hot tub/work out facility were under construction. Also, the on-site "store" is trashy and both times was being tended by a women who was unprofessional and annoyed with having to assist customers. With all that being said, the event space is nice and the event menus were prepared well and really tasty each meal. If you are looking for a place to host an event in the Chicago-land area I would recommend the Westin Chicago North Shore. If you are hosting an event for out of town guests or if you are trying to impress clients this is not the place for you. Also beware that the property is a 1.5 hour drive from downtown Chicago, is 1 hour from O'hare, and since you have to drive through the city is 2 hours from Midway.
