“Could have been better”

Was forced to stay at this hotel due to family members budget restrictions. Carpet next to bed had a large stain where someone had "thrown up". Yellow stains on bed spread,
mattress hard as a rock. Lukewarm water for showering. Very thin walls. There are people who live in this hotel on a permanent basis. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Located near a Wal-mart and several restaurants.

“Good Enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2011

I was in the area to visit my boyfriend stationed at Great Lakes naval base; I was there for 9 nights. The hotel was good enough for the price. It was not anything special but I have seen a lot worse. The staff was very friendly and always helpful whenever I had a question or issue. As far as things that weren't that great they were really only minor issues and not that big of a deal: the heater didnt work quite right (as I was staying in March this was sort of an issue)...it worked but did not regulate the temp at all...I just had to turn it on for awhile to warm up the room and then turn it off again when it got warm enough...the first night before I knew about the quirk I woke up sweating to death. The bed was sort of uncomfy but adequate and the pillows were really flat (there were only two on the bed) and we ended up going out and buying a few new ones that were a little bit more comfy. Our room was never cleaned while we were there but the maid did stop by to change the bedding but only after I had requested fresh sheets. The first blanket that we had on the bed was far too small...it seemed like it would fit a twin size...but when I asked at the office they got me a bigger one right away. The stairways were not very well lit which made me a bit nervous at first but I never had a problem. All in all I was satisfied with the quality for the price that I paid; I did not have very high expectations and was very pleased with what I got. If you are on a budget and dont really plan on being in your room much (we did not hang out there...pretty much only slept there) it is a great place. Accesst o/from the highway was really simple and there is all sorts of shopping and dining options across the street and it is not far from Gurnee Mills Mall and Six Flags.

“Great place, people and property!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2010

I was at this hotel for an extended stay and found it to be a wonderful moderately priced hotel with all the amenities I needed. Shopping, quality restaurants and coffeehouse nearby. The small kitchenette in each room worked well for preparing quick meals. The security is as good as any in or around a large city. The thing that made the place special for me is the people! I found the staff to be exceptionally helpful and professional -- from front desk to housekeeping. Caring people! The only thing I found even remotely objectionable was the small fee they charge for wireless Internet connection.

“Met our needs wonderfully”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2009

Took entire family to see my sons graduation from Navy boot camp. Place was exactly as advertised. On a budget and this place met all our needs. It was clean, with all the basics. The staff was extremely helpful and nice, answered any and all questions we had and directions were very helpful. They even went online and printed our plane check ins and boarding passes so we could make our trip home easier. If we needed something they got it for us, more pillows, towels, etc.

“Worst hotel I have EVER visited. NOT recommended.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2007

We booked our room through Hotwire, based on the description that it was 2 star. I have stayed in 2 star places before, and trusted the description. This place was HORRIBLE. First thing we noticed when we got there was that all of the stairways were blocked off (this hotel has exterior corridors), and that people who were staying in the rooms had left bags of garbage outside of their doors. This made the cooridors smell, and attracted flies. Our room iteself was beyond disgusting. It smelled strongly of urine and smoke, so much so that we didn't close the door while we were there. The bed literally tipped forward when you sat on the end of it, and that tiny bathroom and "kitchen" area were visibly filthy and sticky. The room was too small to pull a luggage cart into, and was so humid you could smell the mold.

We left right away, and did not stay there. We went down the street to the La Quinta Inn (another 2 star hotel), and had a comfortable time.

I have stayed in many hotels in my life, and this was by far the dirtiest hotel, and the most unsafe, I have ever visited. Do not be fooled by the low rates, or you will end up losing your money like I did.

  • Liked — Nothing.
  • Disliked — The urine smell in the room.
