“You cannot beat the value-bottom line”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

My family and I travelled to Chicago for a family wedding and also wanted to take in sites in our spare time. After much debate, we chose Residence Inn because of the a)price b)size of room and c)breakfast included. Where else can we stay in Chicago for under 100 dollars a night that offers everything that this hotel does? No one.

Location-excellent. Next to a highway, close to two major, and excellent authentic Chicago-style pizza places, and about a 20 minute drive into Chicago. There is a Grocery store/liquor store and all amenities close by. You could walk.

Food-It is a Marriott buffet, and I have now experienced about 8 different Marriott's. This one was standard, good, hot, fresh. The area was clean and well-stocked. Food was tasty and lots of choices such as cereal, breads, muffins, yogurts, milk, juice, flavoured coffee, waffles, fresh fruit, hot oatmeal with raisins or additional toppings. ETC. With a pre-teen and a teen to feed, they ate very well and for the price....unbelievable.

Service-Awesome. Front counter staff was very helpful, professional, polite, charming and just wonderful. We weren't bothered in our room and the rooms were very quiet, and I know we had neighours...good insulation.

Cleanliness-Love it. I am actually so impressed with the cleanliness that is consistent with all the Marriotts. Sheets were crisp, fridge, bath and corners (areas that sometimes get dusted over) were polished and clean. No dust ANYWHERE, and I check.

Room-We had a suite, which offers a living/kitchenette area with bar fridge, microwave, desk, phone and then separate sleeping quarters with ample space to hang your clothes and two double beds. The room offers a nice sized flat screen tv and it does have the sink in the sleeping area and the washroom is small-only knock. However, The living area was excellent size and we stayed there for three nights/four days and even had people stop by and never once felt we were tripping over each other.

The pool was clean and also, unlike other Marriotts I have been too, actually had a good seven feet to the deep end, so the kids enjoyed doing jumps off the end. Nice long pool to do laps. :) The workout room is small but well-appointed with flat-screen tvs and 3 treadmills (I believe) elliptical and weights. Don't quote me on this, but it is from what I can remember.

Another great stay at the Marriott and with all the money we saved we were able to spend a lot more on sightseeing and souvenirs! :)

“Sufficient but aging”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Overall the hotel is just fine. From what I've learned the hotel's rooms are being renovated one at a time and from the looks of things they are just about due.

The morning buffet (free) and the evening snacks (also free) are good and provide a range of options from healthy to not-so-much. There is also an outside grill if you care to cook your own food.

The exercise room is fairly new with good to excellent equipment. All of the cardio equipment has individual TVs with headphone jacks so you can watch and listen to what you want without sparring with other guests. The pool is a decent size for laps or for kids. I traveled during the week so it was empty most of the time.

One unique item in the hotel is a pool room where they have one full size table. Play is free so that is a bonus if you are a pool player.

Room Tip: Jewell Osco (supermarket/pharmacy) is 5 minutes away, stop down there to stock your fridge for the w...

“What you'd expect..."”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

This place has a good location near major highways but close to suburbs and our family. Most other guests were there for business.

It had the typical amenities and the room was somewhat worn, but adequate. Would stay here again.

“Great place, but don't expect to walk to anything”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

I stayed here for three nights on a business trip and overall the experience was great. Nice big suite, everything was clean, the staff was really friendly. Breakfast was huge, lots of variety. They have activities many evenings, exercise and game room, nice big pool. Walls seem thin, though. I was suffering from jet lag and going to sleep early in the evening, and needed to run the room fan continuously to drown out the noise from the television in the adjacent room. Internet also wasn't very fast; good luck watching streaming content.

If you don't have a car, be warned: this hotel is in a commerce park not near any restaurants or shops. I also heard from other residents that getting taxis in the morning was not very easy.

“Great two bedroom unit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend to attend a wedding in Naperville. The two bedroom unit was very spacious and comfortable. Location of the hotel was great, easy to access from highway, close to restaurants and shopping. My only gripe (which is not the hotel's fault) was a large contingency of volleyball competitors staying there ... very noisy (although our room was located away from most, thank goodness) and pretty much impossible to access the breakfast room. We decided to eat breakfast out instead of battling the crowd at the very small b'fast facility the hotel has. Otherwise, a great property. Free parking and internet was a nice plus, too!
