let me make this brief.
1.) door wouldnt open
2.)bugs in bed
3.)human waste on toilet upon entry
4.)garbage behind bed posts
5.) long long long dark hairs in "clean" towels.
6.) one inch dust everywhere
7.) bad bad bad bad area.
8.) they said it was 49 dollars upon entry. when leaving i got the receipt and it said 90 dollars, when asking why they said because we attended a wrestling tournament that is a big event so they charged us double. my kids were afraid to go back to the hotel and locked the door to the car and the hotel immidiately.

if i got into detail you would just about die. dont go.

“The most horrible place I have ever stayed in!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2009

Stinky and dirty rooms! I have to clean all my clothes after spending a night there even though I stayed in a non-smoking room. Dirty blankets and linen with huge spots. Very loud neighbors. There are so many problems with that place that it's not possible to list all of them! Don't stay here ever!

“Cheated never returning”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2008

NEVER GO TO THIS HOTEL, LONG EXPLAINATION AND FRAUD COMPLAINT PENDING. PLEASE READ

I am attending U of I in Urbana this fall, so me and my wife traveled from North Carolina to visit the campus before we moved. We wanted to save a bit of money so we tried this lodge. 66 dollars? a fair price for a room we thought, however when we pulled in our cars there were people who were just loitering about and seemed to live in the hotel long term. Enough of them just stared at us as we pulled up to make us think twice about the safety of our two car caravan's supplies. We said, well we will just be careful, lets check inside the room. IT STANK. it smelled like something had died in there, and we had the "no smoking" option. At this point we decided to ask for a refund and stay at the super 8 up the road.---

We went back in after leaving the room abruptly but the front desk girl couldn't refund our money because it was a visa charge. We left a note for the manager that we would be comming in the morning and spent the night at the super 8. We made sure that our leaving had been annotated in the hotel logbook.

We arrived next morning at 9 AM and met with the manager. He produced a folder when he realized who we were, we thought that was odd... he pulled out our receipts and asked if we had signed them, we said yes but we left the hotel because it stank and had shifty people hanging around. He then pulled out pictures of our room.

THIS IS GREAT!!!!

The pictures consisted of a messed up bed, and the bathroom towels moved around(but still folded) to look out of place- and he said "you used the room I will not refund you!"

He tried to make it seem as if my wife and I had rented his hotel for some sort of trist for all of 3 minutes. We argued and his pictures had a time date that was 8 hours off when we had been in the room. however he wouldnt give our money back even when we could show proof we didnt stay and had reciepts from the other hotel.

We placed a stop payment on his services and are currently filing for fraud with the local police department. Please dont give your money to this man.

  • Liked — I hated everything about it and got cheated out of a room I didn't stay in

“Similar to camping”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2008

We stayed at Lincoln Lodge in December, 2007, and also this past Mom's weekend for U of I. In December, the cost was $50.00 per night, which was appropriately priced. We only needed somewhere to stay during a bad snow storm so that we did not have to drive home following the pick up of our daughter for winter break. At that time, we would rate the place "good enough." They advertise continental breakfast, but all I found was a bag of bagels, a jar of peanut butter, a box of donuts, and some not so good coffee. However, Dunkin Donuts is across the street. We decided to make a reservation for Mom's weekend 2008, mostly due to the fact that everything else is sold out a year ahead of time, and they had rooms available. The price now went up to $100.00 per night. The rooms are very charming, with paneling, but the place needs maintenance. The shutters on the windows are in disrepair, and paper clips hold the curtains closed. The roof is in bad need of repair, and the tub fills up when you take a shower. The owner is very nice and accommodating, but I am not sure he understands all the maintenance issues with a hotel. When we were leaving, we went to get ice, but the ice machine was not working. They do have an outdoor pool, but I can't imagine how it is maintained. We decided to make a different arrangement for Mom's & Dad's weekends next year. However, if you like camping, you may like this place.

  • Liked — The proximity to the University of Illinois
  • Disliked — The lack of maintenance
