“BEWARE - STAY AWAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

I would STRONGLY recommend never booking a room her. First, we booked a two bed room, nonsmoking to be placed in a one queen size room, smoking. When asked to be changed, despite our reservation, we were declined. We asked for a room with a recliner which they were able to accommodate us with this request as one of us would be sleeping in the recliner and one in the bed. First impression was the overwhelming smell of smoke..disgusting. The windows were open when we arrived. Management was probably trying to air out the smell. Next, the carpets were horrendously filthy...stained and dirty. I had to throw away a pair of white socks after walking on the carpet and floor. We closed the windows to turn the air on and circulate the air in the room. The windows were so filthy you could not see out of them. The bedspread, although fairly new, had burn holes in it and stains on it. There were several burn marks in the bathroom (tub, counter, floor). The two desk tables in the room were disgusting....like someone had wiped snot all over the sides of the desk. The waste basket in the kitchen was not emptied from the last tenant and it smelled when we opened the cabinet door. The TV was maybe a 19 inch color with VERY LIMITED channels. If you wanted CNN or Headline News .. forget it. A few of the electrical sockets were missing face plates which is a safety hazard to families with little kids. Now on to the recliner which was going to serve as a bed for one of us....it was horrible. Dirty, smelly, and gross. I didn't even want to touch the handle to open the leg recliner. Covered it with a sheet the first night and used a sheet and blanket to cover up. We didn't even unpack anything and the items we used we put right back in our suitcase and zipped it up. Who knows what you might be bring home with you. A few of the lights by the bed did not work. Although the toilet and tub looked clean and seemed clean .. the thought of touching the handle or light switch disgusted up. The refrigerator was clean inside, again the handle dirty and you didn't want to touch it. It also sounded like a big trucking idling all night. Hands are so dry from washing them every time we touched something. Seriously it would have been better camping somewhere or sleeping out in the car .. which was a thought. If you wanted fresh towels each day, you had to take your old ones to the front desk and exchange them. First impression of the front desk was not good. The young woman checking us in was some what rude and hard to understand. There was an older women working as well and she tried to be a little more accommodating, but nothing could help with the experience. At night, the front desk as bars across it and upon checking out the young man was not very friendly either. In a business, it is always nice to say to your customers "Thank you" :"Your welcome" "Have a good day" anything polite would have been nice. Major customer courtesy classes needed at this establishment. I understand it is a 2 star establishment and we shouldn't expect grand pianos in the lobby or a beautiful granite check-in counters, but a little bit of cleanliness is important. Never again will be EVER stay at a Extended Stay facility. We used Pricline and followup with a call to the hotel to make sure we would have double beds and non-smoking. We had confirmation of this as well. Two other couples checking had the same problem. They used Expedia. Wonder if this is the hotel industries way of discouraging customers from using these alternative booking agents. If anything, this stay has discouraged me from ever staying at another Extended Stay facility.

“OK for what it is”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

After booking this hotel, I read the reviews here and got really worried. What would I find? Bedbugs? Hairs? But in fact the room was perfectly OK for a two-star establishment. It was clean and it had everything you would expect - basic TV, bathroom amenities, iron&coffee etc. It was all quite basic (not gonna find CNBC on the TV and no they don't serve breakfast on premises) and rough around the corners but perfectly adequate for what you pay. The linens on my bed were not ironed when I arrived and I thought that was weird for a hotel, although they appeared clean to me. No room cleaning if you stay under a week. A "full kitchen" means some pretty basic kitchenware, stove top and microwave. Also, beware that the front door closes at 11PM (you can enter with your room key). If relevant for you, public transportation options are decent unless it's very late.

“4 Rooms of DISGUST”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Before checking in we had to wait 20 minutes for the receptionist to finish her lunch. Then, she told us that our room was not ready because the people that stayed there before us had been there for two weeks and it needed major cleaning. She said she would call my cell phone when the room was ready. This never happened. When we returned to the hotel after 9 p.m. there was another sign that read "we'll be back in 5 minutes.". When we received our keys we found a room with a broken toilet, 4 blood stains on the carpet, a broken window, hair pins on the floor, a dirty refrigerator, and the stench of fried food. We were told we could have another room, or the key to a room on a different floor so we could use that bathroom during the night. After we told the receptionist we would not be sleeping in our room, we were offered two other rooms. One smelled like a nightclub and the other room smelled like deodorant. We took the room with the deodorant smell only to find animal poop under the bed. At this point we left, our friend spent the night in his room on his stained mattress because he was unable to get his money back. This is the worst place I have ever stayed!

“It would have been nice.. if i didnt find hairs between the sheets”

The location is great, not too too far from downtown. Whats wonderful is that there is free parking and a ruby tuesday in the hotel next door. The kitchen was clean, ample dishes and large stove and fridge. Everything was adequate... except for the fact that my sheets were not changed .. i dont think. Couldnt have been, why else would i find strange hairs between my sheets, and my sister found a round brown spot on hers after rolling down the comforter.
makes me wonder if the carpet was at all vaccumed. or the bathroom disinfected.

So to aid the next guest. I totally stripped the bedsheets and pillow cases.. and threw them in the corner. NOT going to let house keeping take the easy road and just remake the bed with dirty sheets.
I paid $52 with priceline for this 2 star hotel.. I wish I would have paid less.

“Extended Stay Hotel in Skokie is a dump!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

We stayed in room 112 and it was horrible! The moment we walked in, the smell of fried fish permeated the air. The air conditioner was on high cool, full blast and it on felt like a fan. We had to run the water for at least 10 minutes to get the water warm enough to take a shower and even then it was just above lukewarm at best. The pillows were old and used and abused. They were flat and lumpy. The bed was hard and old. It was a bed you would buy at a discount mattress store. There was only about a quarter of a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. This is the worste hotel we have ever stayed at and will never stay here again!
