“Bad service cheep construction and poor up keep!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

I stayed at this hotel for a project that I was working on for my company. The room I had was small and and dated in some areas. It looked like they had done a partial remodel but not replaced everything. The carpet and linoleum were in good condition but the tile grout was stained and chipped in the bathroom. The tv I think was older than the hotel, it was probably 12+ years old. The kitchen counters and cabinets were delaminating. The chairs, tables, recliner and bed looked like they were from before the remodel. The bed was very firm and springs were uneven. The filling in the comforter was lumpy and the cover was rough. At one point during my stay I spilled something on it and the hotel never replaced it. Several of the towels over the weeks were frayed and various shades of cream to almost white (btw the company s color scheme is a tan/cream color). There was very little insulation between floors you can here the people above you moving around especially if they are heavy footed. The floors in the hallway are uneven and in several places they give and there is almost a tripping hazard.
The staff for the most part is very unhelpful and almost rude. I asked several time to be moved to the top floor due to the above mentioned noise. I was basically blown off by the staff or told that there was nothing available. At one point one of the people at the desk told me that I needed to ask every morning to see if any were available and if it was make the move in the early am so they could get my room cleaned and turned around for the next guest.

Room Tip: JUST DO NOT STAY HERE IF POSSIBLE! Floors are thins but walls are ok, never herd the neighbors to e...

“Prepare to enter the Department of Corrections.”

This hotel or should I say "drifters establishment" is getting 2 stars only because the room was decent. It get no stars for the staff or the management. The hospitality was that of a jail.

One evening I called the front desk about 6PM and asked if it would be possible for me to cash a $30 check. The front desk clerk stated it wouldn't be an issue. After cashing the check I received a call at 9:30PM while I was sleeping from the general manager at her house. She accused me of presenting a bad check and said that she had personally went to my bank to cash it. I told he that is impossible because my bank closes at 5PM and I gave the check to the clerk at 7:00PM. She threatened to call the police and demanded I bring the cash back up the front desk, which I did with tape recorder in hand. I later reported this to the district manager and promptly checked out of the hotel within 24 hours.

Further, they randomly charge your card and demand payment if you balance goes over $1. If you enjoy being treated like a criminal, because after all the cliental at this hotel fit that profile then you shouldn't have a problem. But you are a professional business person you might be better of staying across the street. You can find better service just a short walk away.

Dogs barking at all hours of the day, cliental roaming the hallways drunk in the middle of the night, smell of smoke throughout the building and absolutely the most arrogant staff I have ever dealt with.

My previous experiences at Candlewood had been very good, but unfortunately this situation was completely unacceptable and I wouldn't step foot in any of this companies hotels ever again. Great job Candlewood.

Room Tip: Don't.

Non-existant service, a room that smelled like a pesticide demonstration, uncomfortable beds, and no hot food at the hotel or within walking distance. Next time I'll go back to the Marriot

Thank you for taking the time to convey your comments regarding your recent experience with us. I do apologize for any inconvenience the room conditions may have caused you.

We rely on you, our guest, to let us know how we are doing and how we can better meet your needs. I have taken note and wish to thank you for all your valuable comments.

IHG’s Candlewood Suites is one of our limited service hotels. They do not offer a restaurant on site, however, they do have fully serviceable kitchens. These amenities are very popular with our extended stay guests. For guests that are staying for a short period of time, IHG has several hotels in our chain that have a restaurant on site. Alternatively, the Woodfield Mall is a short distance away with several great restaurants that surround it

Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your comments with us. We know you have many choices when it comes to lodging and we hope your future travel plans will continue to include IHG.

“Woke up with toilet water dripping on my bed, it was pretty ghetto.”

I had a horrible experience at this hotel. I stayed 18 nights on a business trip with several other colleagues. However, I seemed to get all of the bad luck. The staff was very friendly and polite, but they were terrible at giving advice on what to do or how to get to places throughout my stay. When I walked in my room the first night I was disappointed that everything was outdated and felt uncomfortable. You can hear everything in the hallway and in the hotel rooms surrounding you. One night I was kept up past midnight because the woman upstairs was screaming at someone saying F' you a million times while stomping around. When I called the front desk they were able to calm the situation for about 20 minutes until it started again. The next weekend my husband came to visit me, and we were rudely awaken on Sunday morning (the only morning I had the chance to sleep in during my insanely busy work stay) by toilet water dripping from the ceiling onto my husband in bed. Yes you read that right, TOILET WATER flooded the bathroom above and it leaked through our ceiling turning on the fire alarm and everything. We had to switch rooms and were hugely inconvenienced. The staff member was very apologetic, but I never heard from a manager once to apologize. I tried to get in touch with the manager but in all of my time there a manager was never available when I was home from work. I left in the morning and returned in the evening before they were there. I have never had such a miserable experience staying in a hotel, and I have stayed at several worldwide throughout my life. Even worse, when I got my "priority club" points statement in the mail I only received 1000 points because it was my initial stay instead of the 7,078 I would have gotten if it wasn't my initial stay. That is so silly! I received ZERO COMPENSATION (because my company paid for the whole thing anyway) and ZERO effort to redeem this customer service nightmare.
