Stayed here 1/30-1/31 as it is so close to the office when I travel to Schaumburg.
Upon arrival, pulled up to the valet area so they could park my car. No valet attendent to be found anywhere, so I just parked the car there and locked it.
Lobby was very modern looking, which was soft on the eye. Really great area for socializing as the bar area for Fresh 1800 (the in venue restaurant) was right there. Check-in was handled by a nice lady named "Teddy" as that is what she wrote on the room key envelope for room 5217. Nice to see a smiling face on employees. She explained amenites of the hotel to me, spa, pool, etc, as well as I would have access to the new Regency Club Lounge on the 5th floor (Benefit of my employer) which served complimentary appetizers from 5-7 with drinks (pay) as well as a nice continetnal breakfast in the mornings (wish I took pictures of this area).
Headed up the my room and inserted the card....flashing red....tried the other card.....flashing red....headed back down to the front desk, Teddy appologized and got on the radio with engineering to check the battery in the door lock. While she was on the phone she re-scanned the cards.
I headed back up to 5217 and presto, door opened. Not a big deal, but at least she was apologetic for the error. Room was nice with my king bed, work desk, couch and flat screen TV. Only beef on TV was that if you wanted to sit on the couch, the TV wouldn't swivel, thus making you have to sit on the bed to watch a show or news.
No closets but a nice furniture set-up with a wardrobe and dual dresser and shoe storage. The decor matched the lobby, which was nice. I think the 5th floor must have had a recent make-over.
Into the bathroom, I was kind of taken back at the size...and it was small to say the least. Stand up shower with a half-glass wall (nice) but a poor layout if you have a spouse in the room and you both are trying to get ready as the bathroom doors swings and closes you in the shower. Wonder if there are any larger bathrooms on the property (besides the giant suites).
The Regency Club is restricated access on the 5th floor. Enter using your room key. The lady in here (sorry forgot her name) said it just opened 3 weeks ago. Great selection of appetizers and a pay bar for drinks.
In the club there are tables with chairs, but then also a sitting area with couches and chairs as well as a business center. Two big screen TVs and a music set-up added a nice touch. Interested in the news? WSJ or USA Today ready for you. Breakfast was just a good and the service as well. High five to the Regency Club,
As I headed out to dinner, went to look for valet again, nowhere to be found. Same on my return back from dinner. Parking was in the back of the hotel which was fine, but the valet is the best option at hotels.
Would I stay again? Yes, but I would also check out the other Hyatt properties in the area as well before choosing a permanant place. I think this hotel does a great job of catering to the business client and the addition of the Regency Club was a nice touch.
Room Tip: Ask for room that does not overlook the central lobby area.

The brand new Regency Club at the Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, Chicago opened in January 2012 and we are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. Positioned to offer easy access to downtown Chicago, O’Hare, local businesses and area attractions, our Schaumburg hotel offers an ideal location and even better amenities for business and personal travelers alike. We do offer free self-parking as well as valet, but it is unfortunate to hear that this service was not available when you needed it. We will share your comments with our valet staff so that their availability is not an issue in the future. Thank you so much for your detailed review and we hope to become your first choice when in the area.
