“Nice property but like most high-end hotels have their hand in your pocket constantly.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I travel frequently from my work and, if you've read my other reviews, frequently stay in mid-level properties. That is not to say that I avoid the high end ones. That having been said, this particular Westin fits the mold of the other Westin and similar properties. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff was accommodating, etc.

My beef is probably more perceptual than anything. That is that when you pay top dollar for a room you don't need to feel their fingers constantly pawing your wallet. Let's see, parking $25, In room internet $12.95/day/computer. Bottle of water $4. Pick up the phone $1.50. Come on guys. I realize that a majority of your guests are business travelers on an expense account but do you really need to nickel and dime us to death?

“Just wanted to post an update”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

While in this area of Chicago, I like to stay here. It is an older Westin, but very nice. Valet is great, food is great, clean place, etc. Always looks like a lot going on at night down stairs too. It looks like a great place for night life.

Anyhow, I just wanted to update, and say it is still a nice place to stay.

“Great Hotel, Better Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Definitely a four star hotel with service and amenities to match. Airport shuttle. Front desk staff were warm and welcoming. No issues checking in early (8AM) Lobby has small cafe serving Starbucks, pastries and sandwiches as well as a dinner restaurant and bar. The location is close to everything including the L into the city (3 blks), convention center (5 blks), and many great restaurants within a short walk (McD's next door).
The carpet looked dated, but was very clean as was the rest of the room. It has a desk that must be 8 feet long and working was very comfortable. Big flat screen, coffeemaker w/Starbucks, upgraded bed and linens, and 2 shower heads with super water pressure. No airplane noise.
I had no complaints for this hotel, it is definitely a great stay for any road warrior.

“Below Westin Standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This is a road-warrior hotel, but the room was definitely below standards for the Westin. Wallpaper was peeling and door was dirty. Sure the beds are nice, but i just felt like is was in an above-average Holiday Inn room. Bar and parking were reasonable for the area, but don't expect much from the room.

“Well worth the price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I attended a convention at the hotel. Had an issue with my previous hotel and just turned up at the Westin, hoping to extend my stay and they did no problems despite being uber busy.

Room was clean, spacious and everything you would expect. Water was roasting morning, noon and night. Towels were changed daily and if you requested new ones, they would deliver them within ten minutes.

They had a 'Green Stay' policy thing, where you could decline Maid Service for $5 to spend in the hotel (for a maximum of 3 days) there was a little issue with this because of the length of my stay, but everything worked out fine.

The guys at the front were really nice, didn't make me feel akward when I was having the worst day ever, made me feel like a princess (and trust me, after the travel from the UK>Ireland>Chicago, finding out my hotel was booked over 200 miles away and the taxi driver jipped me $50, their smiles made my day).

The concierg staff were kind and caring, giving directions, offering change for larger bills, had plenty of extras (soap, razors, toothbrushes etc) which they offered with no problem.

Only issue with the 'room extras' was that the soap was not hyopalergenic. I'm alergic to Aloe Vera and everything they had was filled with Aloe. Good for my room mate, not so much for me :)

There are six lifts, each wich run quiet fast. During busy times there were large groups waiting to get on and off, but this was only after certain events.

I couldn't find the stairs though...

The fridge in the room did not work (not a fault, you had to call and request if you wanted a frige). Got a mini fridge within 5 minutes of phoning down.

Internet was a few bucks each day, but from the 3rd day onward you could 'bulk buy' and get a little discount. Only issue was the internet only worked on the computer that it was registered on.

There was vending machines, chairs to sit on and an ice machine on each floor.

A few minutes walk from the M line, they have a suttle service (that I did not use).

Everything was spacious, the workers were fantastic, can not say enough about this great hotel! I can not wait to go back in August 2012! xx
