I stayed here for twelve weeks over the summer of 2011. After reading negative reviews online, I was nervous, but it turns out they were completely wrong. This is an excellent hotel which I would recommend to anyone staying in the Schaumburg area for a long time.
My room included a queen-size bed, reclining chair, television, bathroom, and small kitchen with a full sized refridgerator and a small island. It's essentially a very small apartment. The kitchen came with plates, bowls, glasses, pots and pans, and simple utensils. I purchased some extra cooking supplies and had no trouble cooking for myself. The room, though hardly luxurious, was clean and comfortable. In twelve weeks I found fewer than half a dozen bugs, which is nothing to complain about for Chicago in summer.
Where this hotel really shines is the exceptionally friendly staff. The front desk staff would always greet me when I walked in, called me once a week to see if I was satisfied with my stay, and were sincerely eager to help when I needed anything. This is a small hotel with just a few staff, which feels like a close family. If you stay for a few weeks you'll get to know them all and they'll make an effort to know you.
It's located right next to the intersection of two expressways, but it was surprisingly quiet. I was never disturbed by traffic, or noise from other rooms. It's right in the middle of a major shopping area, and every chain restaurant and store you've ever heard of is less than a mile away. There's also a massive forest preserve right across the street for running, biking, and picnicking. Parking is ample.
A few small disappointments: the basic internet service is slow, you'll have to pay extra for decent speeds. But that's to be expected for hotel wi-fi. The satellite TV channel selection is also quite limited, and both TV and internet tend to go out in bad storms, which we had a lot of this summer.
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. If you're staying in Schaumburg for an extended period of time, you'll be very happy here. It's simple, clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff is absolutely incredible.
