“OMG that place is GROSS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

We live in town but thought it would be fun to spend some $$ and take the kids somewhere to go swimming. We have 5 kids and we thought it would be fun to have a hot tub in the room also. I made it very clear on the phone when making reservations that I had kids and need more than just one bed. The man told me there is a pull out sofa and king size bed. We figured that would do.. until we opened the door to find 1 bed and a chair. WHAT!! So I went and complained. We had to bring all the kids back up to the lobby with the suitcases and wait to another room to be cleaned. The hallways smelled so badly of urine that it gagged us. Bags of garbage were in the hallways and the carpet was so filthy. We went to the swimming pool which was SO GROSS looking (nothing like the photos) it had green slime all around the edges. And the water was freezing. We went back to the 3rd floor where our room was and our key wouldnt work. There was a "housekeeper" that just kept watching us. While we froze in our swimsuits. She didnt speak english but she couldve atleast gone and got the manager or something. My husband went to the lobby finally and got someone. We waited for a good 10 minutes for them to come with the "master key". We told the manager that we never went swimming cause the water was like ice cubes. So he said give it 2 hours and he was going to turn the heat up right now. We went back after 2 hrs and it was just as cold. Then we decided to use the hot tub in our room. Finally the kids had a blast but when we got out. There was a black film all in the water that stuck to the sides. My kids are NOT dirty at all so the only thing I could think of is it came from the jets. The bathroom floors were so nasty.. looks like they never get mopped. The shower was so full of dust and dirt..I made sure my kids didnt take a shower in it... ewww! When we pulled out the sofa sleeper there was no sheets or blankets. No extra pillows or blankets anywhere in the room. On the king size bed there was 2 very small pillows. I had a hard time falling asleep in this roach motel. 3 small lamps and 2 of them didnt even have light bulbs in them. DONT stay here. Spend a couple more $$$ and go somewhere else.

“GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2009

Upon checking in late at night, we looked at the sheets and they looked like they had never been changed. There were numerous stains on them. So we requested another set of sheets and the second set had even more stains on them. All of the towels in the bathroom had blood spots on them. And the headboards had gum on them. The place stunk horribly. We waited two hours for new pillowcases. When me and my dad went to the front desk to inform them that we would not be sleeping here (which was at midnight and we still did not receive pillowcases) they would not refund us our money. I sure wished I could have read these reviews before going there. We checked into another hotel later that evening. There was no way I would be sleeping there!! My father is informing the Rockford chamber of commerce about this place and also received the number for the rockford code violators committee. They will be receiving a surprise visit!!

“Roches anybody?”

We looked into this place since it was cheaper and had a pool. The pool was closed for whatever reason. We went to our room and as soon as we turned on the light, a roach ran across the table. We picked up our stuff and went to the front desk to get our money back. The man at the front desk said no. I called the health department and told them what had happened. I told the man we'll go back to the room and bring him his pet and then he'll give us our money back. Luckily we found a dead one on the air conditioner. We brought it back to the man and he charged us $1.50 for the hour we were there. Tells you how much their rooms are really worth. Later, I recieved a discount coupon in the mail, appologising for our experience. I sent it back with a note that said "No thank you" Stay at your own risk! this place is NASTY!!

“Disgusting!”

The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was a very bad smell. It was late and I didn't want to find another hotel (big mistake). The room had a moldy smell, the toilet and bathtub were dirty. No breakfast, they claim the kitchen is "under construction" but trust me there is no construction or upgrading going on there. On the up side the female receptionist at night was very pleasant.

“Wish I'd read these reviews first!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2008

This was a terrible experience. There was no atmosphere of safety, cleanliness or comfort. Hard to tell when the floors had last been vacuumed or mopped. Dirt was in corners of bathroom. Full length mirror was chipped, leaving sharp edges. Room was very cramped. Bottom sheet on bed was not fitted - simply a full sheet placed over the mattress, not even tucked in. Garbage was laying behind furniture. Hallways filthy. Parking lot full of garbage & not well lit - we removed anything valuable from the car as it did not appear to be a safe area. No security. No elevator to upper level.

Free continental breakfast as advertised "not available due to construction". No construction in sight.

Reservation could not be found upon checking in.

This obviously is not connected to any Travelodge chain or I'd make a complaint with them. Basketball tournaments were in town and rooms were pretty well booked and we were in a hurry to get to a wedding or we'd have looked elsewhere. We paid $63. - $10 would have been too much.
