We arrived to the hotel about mid-afternoon and the temperature was 105. My wife and kids have very bad asthma so it was quite a tough day to begin with. We entered the lobby and were hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. The only floor with rooms that allow smoking is the fourth floor. We thought it would get better. We got to our room to a broken air conditioner. When my daughter and I went down the stairs the entire stairwell reeked of cigarette smoke, as did the elevator.
The staff were unbelievably nice and understanding of our situation. They offered to put a new air conditioner in the room but told us it would take a few hours for everything to cool down. We declined since the smells were already making everyone's breathing even more difficult. The staff was so amazing they called another hotel and made a reservation for us and didn't charge us any penalties for not staying the night.
