“Nice room.... But....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

We just left the hotel. We stayed in a hot tub room with a king bed. The room was huge. The hot tub was beautiful.... Until we filled it with water. There was a film in the water that made it unuseable. When I told the fellow at the front desk that I wasn't happy with paying for something I couldn't use, all he could tell me was that I should have called maintenance last night. He said the film was from the hot tub not being used and that I should have ran some water and then let it out before I filled it to use. No one told us that at check in. I would have given a much better review if the customer service was better this morning.

“Super friendly, helpful staff makes this hotel the one to stay at in Rochelle!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

I stayed here for 2 nights, not consecutively, in July. The internet works great, and I was able to print from the computer in the lobby. Breakfast was sufficient, and there is always coffee available. Rooms and lobby are clean and well kept. Other than having very dated furniture and carpeting, the room was fine for my needs. The second time I stayed here I was upgraded to a 2 room king suite. The room was enormous! Also, there is a great pool and health club attached to the hotel - and guests can use them for free! Finally, what makes a stay truly enjoyable is the helpful and friendly attitude of the staff. They worked really hard to make sure everyone's needs were met.

“great second stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2010

We stayed in the two king room suite for the second time. We love the suite and beds are so comfy. The service is outstanding at his hotel. We had trouble with our tv while there. They changed out the tv within half an hour of our complaint. After our first stay here, the owner offered a free upgrade for next stay. Love the fact that there is a restaurant on the second floor.

“Nice & Cozy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2009

I stayed here and booked a group reservation for our team. I had read that it was remodeled, so took the chance. I would have to say I was pleasantly surprised! This wasn't a 5 star hotel or anything, but it was certainly acceptable & clean for our purpose. The rate was decent, and I really enjoyed the lounge that was next door (adjacent to the hotel). The only thing I wished they had were queen sized beds instead of full sized beds. Full size is just really too small for 2 people to sleep in unless they are children. I would recommend the hotel look at upgrading to queen beds in place of the full sized ones in the near future. Other than that, it was very nice, and the breakfast was nice as well.

“First stay WAS WORTHY of making a pre-reservation for our return trip”

If you're looking for a place to stay in order to leave nit picky negative reviews this place has offerings BUT if you're MORE interested in a pleasant comfortable stay worthy of the expense, then you won't be disappointed!! If you are looking for new looks, smells, etc. then find a motel that was recently built or renovated. This is an older structure and shows signs of wear but the attention in providing comfort, cleanliness, necessities and other amenities to their guests is OBVIOUS. My daughter and I stayed here June 11th and again on June 16th.

Both nights were in a room with 2 double beds (515 & 517; top floor, smoking rooms). Both were equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, ironing board & iron, blow dryer, coffee pot, safe and desk area. 515 also had a dining table. 515 had strong smells of stale smoke and detailed dusting was overlooked; 517 not so. Smells are confined to the rooms. Room window can be opened but no screen. Balcony rooms are non-smoking only. A fair majority of rooms have been converted to residential living but the hotel still has many more to accommodate the needs of travelers. The fifth floor consisted of 7 or 8 rooms compared to three or four times that of the other floors. We loved it!! Very private and less traffic although it wouldn't matter anyway. Our rooms were extremely sound proof, however, 510 and 511 might prove differently as they are right next to the elevator. (some people just can't seem to keep their mouth shut until they are half way down a hall, right?) We loved the pillows!! Four soft plump pillows on each comfortable bed. It's rare for me to get a good nights rest in a hotel but I did here!! I didn't want to leave that behind.

The pool and fitness center are not managed by the hotel. Guests are welcome with no additional expense or limitations. They do have operating hours, however. They open at 6 am and closing times vary. Our first night they closed at 5 pm, the second night they were open until 9 pm. It appears that they provide instruction to the public so the schedule may be dependent upon that. No need to worry about sanitation here. Pool access is through the locker rooms and all users must shower before swimming. Lockers are free to use and soap dispensers are available in the shower stalls. One stall is handicapped equipped with a seat and hand held sprayer. All children must be accompanied by an adult and the pool is supervised. A whirlpool and sauna is also available. The pool water was cool during our visit but a local said it was like bath water two days earlier. Just the luck of the draw, I guess.

At check in you will receive microwave popcorn and a comment card. Think about that for a minute. If they had fears of negative criticism, then why would they provide the convenience of a comment card, that in my opinion, encourages a guest to voice their opinions about everything and anything while staying there. We loved the ambiance of the breakfast room as well as the variety of food. Biscuits and gravy, waffles, donuts, bread, bagels, cereals, yogurt, hard cooked eggs, fruit, coffee, tea, milk, apple & orange juice, peanut butter, jelly, cream cheese, etc. Very well kept up. Our two weekday visits were around 7 am and lasted about 45 mins. Not a lot of hustle and bustle going on and seating was plentiful. Being able to watch AND listen to the weather forecast was a rare experience.

One last note. We did not visit the bar or dining area during our visit but I do highly recommend taking the time to walk over to the Butterfly Family Restaurant. Their menu offers something for everyone and quality was superb. Show them your room key for a 10% discount.
