After being delayed and then cancelled at the Peoria Airport and the possiblity of spending the night at o'Hara Airport in Chicago I decided to spent the night in Peoria without spending more than necessary for a short stay. The choices on the hotel board at the airport had all the usual Holiday Inn type hotels. I needed transportation and a good price. There was a listing for the Kings Inn--had a shuttle and good prices. It was late when I called and the shuttle was not running anymore but.........the manager of the hotel told me he would personally drive the 15 minutes to the airport to provide the ride. He was there within the 15 minutes, well aware that I was 'stranded' and offer suggestions for dinner places and delivery as he drove me to the hotel. The Kings Inn is probably 10 years or more past its prime. But it was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Walking distance to nice restaurants. The room was only $50 and well worth it. The manager then gave me a ride at 8 AM in the airport. This hotel staff did go above the norm...and it was a pleasant end to a stressful day. Price and clean, what else could a person want?
