“Peoria, Downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

My work takes me to Peoria often, and I've stayed at this hotel a few times. I appreciate the proximity to downtown, the large, clean suite type rooms, helpful staff and the nice breakfast as well as evening 'receptions' with food and alcohol a few days a week.
The only real drawback I've encountered while staying at this hotel is the inability to walk to any restaurants. While Peoria has lots of good places to eat, while staying at this hotel you will need to drive to get to any of them.
I've never personally had a problem at this hotel, however I did once travel with a colleague who smoked who specifically reserved a smoking room on the website only to arrive and be notified that the entire hotel was non-smoking. They spoke to the manager, who was apologetic and noted they weren't sure why you were able to reserve a smoking room. I also shared this on a post -stay survey that was sent to me.
Checking the website right now, I see you are still able to reserve a room that appears to be a smoking room (because it doesn't say non smoking like the other rooms do and comes up in a search for smoking rooms. The description says they'll try to accommodate smoking preferences upon arrival...which is very clearly deceiving. Although I don't personally smoke, I don't appreciate that approach to business.)

“Excellent Location & Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

I stayed 2 nights on business. The rooms, which are all suites, are very spacious. The kitchenette, with decent sized refrigerator and stove, is well stocked with flatware, dishes, pots, pans, etc. The breakfast buffet had a very nice selection, including hot food, and one evening they served a delicious meal. The only negative that I noticed was that the carpet in the stairwells could have been a bit cleaner.

“Excellent hotel with great breakfast”

We stayed here for 3 nights during a convention last March. The hotel is a very short walk across the street to the convention center which is super nice. Our 2 bedroom suite was HUGE! Beds were very comfortable and bathrooms are nice and big. The workout area leaves a little to be desired as it's only a single treadmill and a single bicycle, but I made do. The best part in my opinion was the breakfast buffet. Lots of great food to choose from including fresh fruit and a waffle maker. Coffee is excellent too. We already booked our room for next year's convention!

“Great Downtown Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

Peoria downtown is quirky. Right now there are 3-4 downtown hotel options. Two independents: The Mark Twain (near a really noisy intersection), the Pere Marquette (a traditional hotel, next to the strip joints whose drunken patrons spill out onto the streets in the wee hours hollering to one another - it will soon to become a Marriott after major renovations), and one or two others that I haven't experienced. And then there's the Staybridge Suites on the edge of downtown across from the Convention Center.
The staff makes you feels like you're at home, it has a comfortable lounge, wifi throughout, really comfortable rooms in great conditions, quiet, and a short walk from the minor league baseball park for a all-american night out watching young baseball hopefuls. The happy hour consists of what I call "heart-bombs" burger, hotdogs, meatball, nachos and cheese and lite beer and inexpensive wine - but hey its free and in moderation can be a nice appetizer. Local dining, I'd suggest the One World Cafe, a mile up the hill across from Bradley University. Its great for any meal, a lively energetic, warm place that you can dine alone, take you're laptop, book, ebook, and fit right in.

“Comfortable, clean, showing some age...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

Check in went well and staff was friendly. Rooms are showing some age (especially without flat-screen TV's - time to update!), but were very clean and bed was very comfortable. As with other Staybridges I've stayed, the laundry facilities, snack/gift shop were very nice. Exercise facility is pretty basic (especially if you were one staying a long time as SB's are designed for) but equipment was in good condition.

On the edge of downtown and area seemed fine (at least for Peoria...unfortunately unless you have a very specific reason to go there, there seems little tourist potential for the area). Not a lot around for walking however.

If I had reason to go to Peoria again, I would consider this hotel again.
