I have a ton of family that lives in the area, but needed a place to stay over our family Christmas weekend. My 2 sisters, one brother-in-law, my husband, and myself planned to stay in a hotel together. My sister arranged the accommodations for us because they were cheap, and she was told we would have a roll-away bed for the extra person. When we walked into the lobby, the place REEKED of curry, and two small children were playing right inside the doors. It took the owner almost 3 solid minutes to come out to greet us, while we could see him sitting in his living room in the back watching tv. His immediate reaction to seeing the 5 of us standing there was "you can not have 5 people in one room! No parties! You have party, I throw you out!" We told him we were grown adults, not high school kids, and had no intention of having a party, we just needed a place to sleep. He then informed us that there were no roll-away beds left, despite the fact that we were the ONLY car in the parking lot. Hmm. We thought we would figure something out anyway, so we went to the room. The smoke detector was pulled out of the ceiling, the sink dripped, and sheets smelled like the lobby. We immediately got on the phone to other hotels in the area and ended up driving 30 minutes or so to stay at a Holiday Inn in Tuscola, Illinois, where my sister was able to get a military discount, and we ended up spending less than the rat-hole in Paris. My advice would be to drive a little ways to Tuscola, especially if you are familiar with the area. Holiday Inn was magnificent. Super 8 in Paris is a nightmare.
