Marcie at the front desk was extremely helpful when we needed to change rooms due to a softer than desired mattress in our room. They were able to get us additional pillows that evening and the hot breakfast in the morning was excellent. The staff was warm and pleasant on a very cold evening outside. We appreciate their efforts and we would stay here again.

Mary at the front desk greeted us with a smile each and everytime we walked past the desk. She also went out of her way to make us dinner reservation as it was my husbands birthday and she even let the restaurant know it was his birthday. Nice suprise to find we got a discount from the restaurant . Hanks farm had the best food and gave us 40% off my husbands meal for his 40th birthday! We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express next time we are there cause of the level of service we got ! Ottawa is really a friendly city!!!

I have been a regular at this establishment for a few years and I came back for a visit this week to find out that Megan, the front desk girl, has left. I sincerely enjoyed visiting with her and she was the only one at the reception area who seemed to legitimately care about my experience while I was there. Particularly, the older, heavy set dark haired lady in reception always seemed "nice" enough but fairly uninterested and scripted. Very sad to see a mediocre hotel lose an asset like that. Overall experience I would say its a little too costly for the product but If they would get someone back in reception that was half as good as megan I would pay twice the cost.

I've stayed here a few times do to proximity to a customer. I'm reading these glowing reviews and wondering if I'm staying at the same place! I can see light coming in between the sliding window sections along with the SW breeze. It's like having the window open! The truck place next door and bar across the street are noisy (especially with a non-sealing window). I travel all the time and I've stayed at much nicer, brand new HIE's for $20-$30 cheaper than this one. I don't know how they are able to charge the rates they charge here. Overall the room is clean with nice furnishings but the vanity in the room makes it feel like a cheap hotel. Just doesn't seem up to par with other HIEs.
