“Bad experience”

My wife and I stayed there for one night. In the morning, there was no hot water in the entire building. My wife discovered this only upon her attempt to take a shower. While understandable that something like this could happen, the staff refused to do anything about it. What really disappointed me was that they knew there was no hot water the evening we checked in and said nothing. We were simply told the next day that nothing could be done. They should expect to discount the cost of the stay by even a few bucks if a major issue like this occurs. Not this place. We've stayed there before, but will not again considering how they handle customer relations.

Room Tip: ask if they have hot water

“Disappointed!!!”

My husband and I stayed at the Paddle Wheeler in September for my 50th class reunion. The view is beautiful. The rooms are definitely outdated. The bath was clean, but the some of the furniture was dirty and worn. There was a $5.00 charge a night for a refrigerator. We paid the fee and then found out that there were no more refrigerators. We rented one of the two story rooms. We had one bar of soap for the three sinks, and had to ask the front desk for shampoo and conditioner and more soap. The front desk staff was very courteous and I felt sorry for them when we had to ask for items that are always in a hotel room. Then when we checked out, we asked for a printed receipt. It was unreadable and the gal at the front desk couldn't find a new ink cartridge. It really looks like this place is having money issues. So glad that none of my other classmates stayed there. It is a charming place, but worried that it is not handled properly. I know that the restaurant is not the same owner. The food was great, the staff was great, but got really tired of seeing at least 1 or 2 managers plopped at the front desk or in a chair nearby.

Room Tip: Perhaps wait until it is updated and cleaned. We definitely paid way too much for what we got.

“Overall decent hotel with slightly unfriendly staff”

I spent last Saturday night at Paddle Wheel Inn with my wife after touring the Oregon area for the day. The hotel was clean, quiet and had a very cool setting on the river almost directly across from the Eternal Indian. If the front desk employees were friendlier I'd probably rate the place 4 stars.

“I'll be back for sure!”

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years to visit family that lives in the area (I need my own space!) It's a charming hotel, well maintained, and immaculately clean! It may be a little out dated, but who has money to remodel in this economy?! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Neither myself nor other family members who have stayed here have ever had a problem. It is also a beautiful place to have a wedding. While I was staying this summer there was a wedding out on the deck in front of the hotel, overlooking the water. I watched it from my balcony (I know, my husband says I'm nosy!) but it was so beautiful! Great place to stay; I hope to be back soon!

Room Tip: Go for the "river-side" rooms, the view is worth it!

“Quiet, out of the way, unique, all as expected.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

The overall stay was pleasant. If you're looking for a 5 star, go somewhere else. If you want unique and pleasant, if not perfect, this is your place.

Food was good if not accurate. The boat ride is peaceful, uneventful, quiet. Better for chatting than for sightseeing. Weather will dictate your enjoyment.

Room was clean and quiet. Some updating might be in order but nothing broken or in need of repair.

I might stay there again if required. I am well travelled and expect quite a bit from hotels and motels. But this unique Inn is well within expectations to build a reputation around a unique, regional, resorty atmosphere. If one is not expecting over the top, or being wowed, then this is your place. Might be better for older folks who are more impressed with an experience than amenities. Nothing in the way here for a couple to have a pleasant weekend. I would recommend it for appropriate occasions.
