“We had such a wonderful experience, we WILL be going back!”

Antique charm tastefully integrated with modern conveniences and luxury.
Everything is first class, including the gourmet breakfast.
The proprietor and staff treat you like you are part of the family.
So much so, that when our car broke down, the proprietor graciously allow us to use her own personal car to attend a 40th class reunion while our car was repaired.
Could anyone ask for more?
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we look forward to doing it again!

“Best mother-daughter Christmas tradition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

I have stayed at Harvey House a total of three times now with my mother. My mom rarely goes for hotels that are not of the chain variety nor does she do much to ever spoil herself. As a thank you gift for all of my mom's help with my wedding, I decided to book an evening for us at the Harvey House. Beth, the owner, treated us so well - caramel-coated brownies on arrival, beautiful room decked out in antiques, complimentary wine and Aveda products, the most incredible breakfast I've ever had at a B&B, among many other displays of warmth and hospitality. We have since made the Harvey House part of our Christmas tradition, which is perfect given it's proximity to downtown Chicago and Oakbrook shopping.

I feel very badly for the two reviewers here who left with a bad impression of Beth. She has always impressed me with her kindness, commitment to socially responsible business practices (environmentally friendly, seems to treats her staff quite well), and ability/courage to run a successful inn as a single mother. I will, of course, stay again at Harvey House soon.

“Excellent Stay”

Stayed in the Golden Chest Suite for 8 nights with my husband while I attended training. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. We never heard any of the other guests and we slept well. The location was really good for riding the "El" train into downtown Chicago (stop about 2 blocks away) as well as for walking to local dining establishments and architectural sites. Breakfast times are extremely flexible and the breakfasts that Beth prepares are delicious and inventive. There is free internet provided and a coffee machine in the common area. Bikes are also available for use. Outdoor pool nearby. If you're looking to stay in a quiet residential area this is a good pick.

“This is the place if you want a cozy, welcoming spot.”

I stayed in the Garden Room and loved it . . . along with its other charms, this cheerful room has a comfortable rocking chair right by the window. The innkeeper, Beth, is friendly and knowledgeable and gives excellent recommendations and directions. The breakfasts are generous, and you can eat as late as 11:30, so you don't have to feel rushed. Beth is an inveterate baker, so you will constantly find goodies on the kitchen counter free for the asking. When I complimented her on the homemade granola, she packed a little bag for me to take with me as I was checking out. All in all, I felt more like a guest in a lovely home than a customer. P.S. Off-street parking is available.

“Quiet, welcoming, comfortable place.”

Located in the historic District of Oak Park, this bed and breakfast was a nice place just be. The innkeeper obviously loves the area and gave us great suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. We had a wonderful morning walk exploring the architectural treasures of the area and came back to a lovely breakfast. The innkeeper generously allowed us to invite our friends we were visiting join us for breakfast. Super bed, thoughtful amenities including bikes, bottled water, books. This is a place to rest.
