The room from all aspects is poor. From the check in, to the room to the terrible breakfast the next morning. I will never stop in Mt Vernon again. If you are traveling on I-57 go south a little further and stop at the Quality Inn, in Marion, for the same price you get a better stay. This room smelled musty. It was a non-smoking room but you could still smell smoke. It also smelled like some one had a pet in the room that peed. The heater was so loud we couldn't sleep so we have to crank up the heat then turn it off to get to sleep. When I rate the resturant I am rating the breakfast in the hotel. .

I stayed for one night and wished that I had stayed somewhere else. The rooms smell like smoke. The hotel had a musty smell that I would associate with mold.
The bath towels were worn looking, with holes and frazzled edges.

The carpets are dirty. The furniture is outdated.
Do not eat the breakfast. I watched them take down the bar. They put the gravy back into a container to be reused.
They also poured the milk back into a jug that I assumed was to be reused the next day.
The juicer had dirt built up behind it.

I accidently found the laundry room while looking for the restroom. OMG! I can not believe the condition of this room.
The floors are filthy, and the walls and washers and dryers are very ancient in appearance. This is where they do laundry? GROSS!

I also found out that the cheap owner actually has a room on the second floor.
He lives here? You have got to be kidding me. I don't uderstand how someone can live in this filth.
I don't think that this place has ever been inspected by the corporate office. If it had, I think that they would have closed it down so that it wont give the company a bad name.
Do not waste your money on this stink hole. Not worth it!

We just needed a simple, clean room and this hotel fit our needs. It's an older place, but our room was clean and quiet. Good value.
