This Holiday Inn is a reincarnation of an old Ramada Inn. The property had been closed for four year prior to current management coming in an extensively remodeling the property.
When checking in the area was clean and updated. There is a Bar Louie attached adjacent to the lobby.
When given my room assignment I noticed that the extremely long hallways were updated with new carpeting, wallpaper and were nice. What wasn't nice, however, was entering my room and seeing an unmade bed and used wet towels all over the floor of the bathroom. A return visit to the front desk resulted in another room assignment and an uncaring, insincere "sorry about that" from the front desk attendant.
The second room was made up and ready. The room really is a mixed bag of good and bad. The good points include nice new carpeting, a flat screen tv and a comfortable bed. The bad points include a claustrophobic bathroom, no channels set into the flat screen tv to actually know what station you are watching and high speed internet that bounced up and down throughout the night. A call to the front desk again was met with a monotone, quit bothering me type of reply. She said to try the wired ethernet cable which i did. The wired internet at lease in this particular room didn't work at all. A lack of reliable stable internet is a must in my opinion so this is a serious knock on the property.
Another issue at this Holiday Inn occurred when i was returning from dinner. The narrow driveway area was completely blocked by a guest checking in along with the shuttle van directly beside that vehicle. I waited probably five minutes and it was apparent that nothing was going to be done short term so i had to park my vehicle, enter the lobby area and request that one of the cars be moved. The lobby was full of staff and management who were speaking to each other in Indian and were laughing and having a grand time. The shuttle driver was then directed to let me by which he did but then proceeded to back right back into the same place blocking other partons from parking their cars as well.
The foreign management team at this hotel really needs to realize that making a welcoming hotel involves more than just an extensive renovation. You need to have great customer service and really put an emphasis on over the top guest relations, focusing on the English language, and not congregating in the lobby area would also be a good thing in my opinion.
So to sum up my review of this property it shows promise but has a long way to go to be a premier property.
