“Wonderful in every way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

We stayed at Prairie Path Guest House over the 4th of July weekend and it was wonderful. Buster and Fern remind me so much of my Grandparents, they are warm, friendly, and welcoming. The rooms are full of fun knick knacks and antiques, yet clean and comfortable. The bathroom we used was huge, modern, and stocked with amenities. Fern has coffee ready on the front porch each morning, followed by a breakfast that would put any restaurant to shame. If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful experience while visiting Mount Carroll and the surrounding area, you must check out Prairie Path. We will certainly be back ourselves.

“An Exceptional B & B in Mt. Carroll”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2009

My husband and I have stayed at Prarie Path many times as we have a boat at Lake Caroll and season passes to the nearby Timberlake Playhouse. We always feel at home the minute we arrive. The Innkeepers, Fern and Buster, are warm and friendly, extremely knowledgable about the region and helpful in planning your day. We have invited friends and family to join us, always to rave reviews. Mornings find us soaking up the peacefulness on the second floor balcony with our coffee in hand and watching the bluebirds, hummingbirds and finches that frequent the property. Breakfast is exceptional and typically consists of homemade breads, homemade preserves, juice, meat and seasonal fruit. And if that were not enough, there is always a baked treat waiting for you as the pefect ending to each evening. The craft shop on the premises and the historic town of Mt. Carroll always fun to explore. All in all, we consider Prairie Path Guest House an exceptional find!

“Lovely Stay at the Prairie Path Guest House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2008

Sometimes you just don't know what to expect from a Bed & Breakfast, so it is with great pleasure that I write this review. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, Buster and Fern were accommodating, friendly and just nice to be around. Their B&B is a very attractive piece of property, with a deck filled with flowers, gliding swings and Buster's homemade crafts to peck your interest. We spotted wild turkeys, and cows grazing in the fields, and humming birds sipping from their feeders. I also loved being on the upstairs balcony where waiting for me in the morning was a carafe of coffee, nice touch! Our room was also filled with Fern's handmade quilts and other lovely pieces. We did not lack for anything and both her and Buster made our breakfast memorable and filling. Good thing we were on a hiking get away! If you are ever in the area I highly recommend staying at the Prairie Path. Ask Fern to prepare her Swedish pancakes, they are better than any I have had in restaurant.

The owners Buster and Fern and friendly and accomodating. The breakfast is ample and delicious. Morning coffee is waiting just outside your door. The area is beautiful and not far from Galena or Iowa. Highly recommended! It is like staying with your favorite grandparents.
