We stay in Morton a few times a year for family visits, this was our first time to try the Best Western. The lobby area was fine, quite large and bare. The clerk was having problems with their registration system but did find our reservation and checked us manually so we didn't have to wait. Handicap parking was in front of the door that served as the entry to the rooms. The door area and entry were pretty dirty looking with some trash right around the elevator entrance. The handicap accessible room was only 2 doors from the elevator which was nice as in many places they are farther down the hall. The bathroom was fully accessible however the shower had a removable bench that was very difficult for my partner to install. Once the bench was in it's wall mounted bracket, it was almost too far away for me to reach the controls.
The next morning we went to the breakfast which was set up in the hotel's bar area. Breakfast is served from 6 until 10 and we arrived about 6:30. Everything was set out on the edge of the bar. There were trays of sausage, scrambled eggs, diced potatoes and sausage gravy but no biscuits. Bread for the toaster was in 2 half bags, no bagels and just a flat pastry of some kind. Cereal was in 2 containers where you put a bowl under a chute and pull out what you want, milk was in school lunch size boxes and set in an iced bucket. There were 4 pieces of fruit out and mixture poured in open cups to make waffles for yourself. There was no attendant, only a guy dressed like a janitor, wearing an orange vest who came and took away the milk. He said it was spoiled but he'd have to call someone to see what to do. The whole eating area had sticky floors, looked dingy and was very dark. Utensils were scattered about in open baskets. I had a few pieces of sausage which I ate with my fingers because I refused to use their silverware, my partner had plain toast and we left. No one else was eating there but a few people did come in, look around and leave. We had coffee in the room from their hot shot machine.
We only saw a front desk person and no other staff except for the guy taking away the milk. No housekeeping was evident. The room price was $71, very reasonable and it was very quiet the whole time we were there but the place was just worn and shabby looking and the breakfast and breakfast area was absolutely awful.
