“On their way "there"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

We had a perfectly fine stay at this hotel. The only reason I didn't give it more stars is that it's not quite "there" yet. When we first walked in, there was a sign on the lobby door "excusing their mess," as they were renovating the front desk area. The desk was temporarily just a table near the door, with laptops and phones for the staff... and all kinds of paperwork strewn all over. I wasn't too bothered, though, because I understand they are in the midst of a renovation. I caught of glimpse of the nearly-finished new front desk, and it will be quite modern and clean-looking when finished.

Our room was on the third floor, and upon getting off the elevator, we were taken aback by how hot and stuffy the hallway was. Good lord. Our room, which had the air conditioning turned off, was nearly as warm as the hallway. Thankfully the air kicked in quickly and cooled off the room. The hallway stayed stifling hot the whole time we were there. The room was fine, with updated linens, furniture and decor to match what I assume is going on in the lobby. It had a fridge and small coffee pot, as well as what they called a "wet bar" - a tiny sink. Not that I would've used it, but when I hear "wet bar" I assume little bottles of liquor and snacks. Not a big deal, but just a little odd. The bathroom was fine and very clean, but could be updated to match the rest of the room (just looked a little 80's - cheap hollow-core door, the closet door was just a cheapy folding mirror door). The bed was extremely comfortable, and everything was impeccably clean.

Breakfast was down in the attached restaurant bar area, and left something to be desired. Just very sparse, with basic juice, milk, yogurt, cereal and a few (not so tasty) hot options like sausage and eggs. I've had way better.

Swam in the pool for a little while, it was very warm, almost bath water. It was fine for the 2 of us that were in there, but I could see it getting very crowded with more than 10 or so people in there.

We were there for a wedding at the conference center, which was beautiful. The staff, both in the wedding and of the hotel itself were very friendly and accomodating. We would have no problem staying here again, but would recommend more options for breakfast, and would love to see what the place looks like after renovations.

“At least there was room in the inn ...”

Never a fan of the Best Western chain in general. When this hotel was first opened, it was probably nice. Now many years later, it's incredibly tired, worn, outdated, peeling paint, chipped furniture, and worn-out carpet. The room rate is silly for this calibur -- it's a $59 room, not a $99 room! Only a pool -- out of order, of course -- and no hot tub. And the "free breakfast" -- what a joke!!! They were out of almost everything! The staff person told me, "We only order once a week so we run out of stuff a lot." Seriously???? My advice is to ditch the breakfast so people can lower their expectations.

“Fair and worn a bit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

This hotel needs updated. A bit worn, could be spruced up. Beds were alright, pillows are not. Bring your own ! Internet was horrid. Manager was rude. Breakfast was good and the same daily, but was filling. The attached Pub had great food and friendly service.

We were in town for the National LWML Convention. We politely inquired about a late check out due to our schedule. The Mgr was extremely rude. I can understand if it was not possible, but why be rude ? Towels were worn and on the thin side. You can tell the entire place needs a bit of sprucing up. Beds comfy though, thankfully. Showers okay as well. Basics are provided for. Employees were polite and accomodating as the mgr allowed.

Did not have time to check out the pool or hot tub, but they looked nice.

Internet was horrid, had all kinds of problems with it. Was supposed to be high speed, had problems keeping a connection, thank goodness I had a wireless USB with me !

“Much Recommended”

Nice place, clean, convenient, safe. This is one of the nicest Best Westerns I have ever stayed in. The rooms are spacious, and the WiFi worked perfectly. We will definitely stay here again.

“"Fair" at Best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2009

Had to run the water in the tub for ten minutes to clear the gunk that came out. So there I was wiping out the tub, running the water, wiping and running, wiping and running until the water ran clear. I did call the front desk and Cassandra had never heard of this being a problem but did offer to change our room. I had already wiped down the room with Lysol wipes prior to cleaning the tub so I did not want to start over in another room.
The hallway on the second floor smelled like smoke. The room (201) did not smell...that would have had me moving to another room.
The staff was friendly... always greeted us
