“No Elevator!! Smells Like Smoke!! Staff Rude!!! Tub Clogged!! Spiders!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2006

The only positive things I can say about this hotel is that we got a good deal on the price, and it has been newly renovated. However, the bathroom was not clean and the whole place smelled of smoke, even in our supposed "Non Smoking Room".

This is a two-story motel, but there is no elevator. We had several pieces of heavy luggage, a baby, a car seat, a stroller, and my sister is 7 mo. pregnant. We would have never stayed here if we had known. Also, there was no one to help us carry anything up (bellhop).

The next worse thing was the bathroom. There was a pubic hair on the toilet tank, hair in the tub, and hair on the floor. The drain in the tub was clogged and the tub would fill up when we took a shower. We complained about this, but it wasn't fixed. There was never anyone at the front desk either unless we rung a bell. They seemed to be way understaffed.

There were three fairly large spiders in the room on the ceiling and cobwebs behind the curtains. The microwave didn't work.

The front desk only answered the phone about half the times we tried to call and they got our wake-up call wrong (called us at 4AM). They never had any spare blankets or pillows, and only put three towels in each room even though they sleep four. There is nothing in the form of travel items either except for a small shampoo and lotion.

The staff wasn't friendly. I felt like I was intruding and bothering them whenever I went to the desk for a towel or to let them know about the clogged drain. One of them even gave me a dirty look, but my son said not to take it personally because he had seen her to that to the other customers as well.

You can dress up a land fill, but you cannot cover it up.

“A real dive - smelled, broken light bulb, TV didn't work. Yuck.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2006

I should have just left when I walked in the lobby, which reeked of cigarette smoke. But I had travelled a long time and had to be at my first meeting in an hour so there wasn't time to find another hotel. And it was just one night - how bad could it be? VERY bad.

I reserved and was given a non-smoking room, but smoke permeates the whole hotel. They are clueless when it comes to that. My room stank and my clothes all had to be cleaned when I got home.

In addition to that, a light bulb in my room was broken, the TV didn't work and there was a big fat juicy spider in the bathroom. Nice, eh?

On the plus side:
The staff was great and helpful. TThe room was quiet, clean (except for the spider) and comfortable (aside from the smell & broken stuff), and the windows open. They fixed the light bulb when I called them. I didn't call about the TV because I didn't find out about it until late and I didn't want an engineer coming in when I was in my jammies. They probably would have fixed or replaced the TV if I had let them know about it.

But they are clueless about what it means to have non-smoking rooms. They don't isolate smokers enough, and the whole hotel is very stinky. I did complain about it to the desk clerk, who said she couldn't smell any smoke and had never received a complaint about it. I know that's a fib because other people on my conference stayed at the same hotel and also complained. The desk clerk is a smoker, so no wonder she couldn't smell it.

If you smoke, or if you don't mind smoke, and don't mind your stuff smelling like an ashtray, it's not a bad place.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2004

I'm going to have to start checking out Comfort Inns a little more carefully. I think they're developing a little more variance on the low end of the amentity scale than I'm used to from them. Of course, they have it on the high end but thats not a problem. Adequate room, Adequate breakfast, no exercise room, no computer center, no elevator....Greg
