“I was better off sleeping in my car”

I think everyone needs to know that this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. All we wanted was a nice hotel to stay at when we visited with family and I am very, very disappointed with this hotel. When we were making reservations we were repeatedly told we needed to make reservations online and they would fix the reservation after it was made because the triple A discount would not work and the buy two nights get the third free would not configure in to the price and after we did that they told us they have no control over their website and they would not fix anything. The room we were first given was not handicap accessible when we clearly stated that we had a child in a wheelchair and at first they were trying to make us carry the chair up the stairs. They may have several handicap parking spots but there is no ramp to get the wheelchair up. we could not go swimming because the front pool was not handicap accessible and the back pool had a lock on the handicap ramp to the pool and we were told that they did not want to remove it even though the stairs to the pool was open, and they started telling us different ways we could get the wheelchair down stairs into the pool area. The maid left the trash from the day before in the middle of the room. this place is suppose to be smoke free and all throughout the place and in our room it smell heavily of smoke and the handicap child we had with us had troubles with breathing as a result of this. the outside of the hotel was unkeept and ragged looking. All the front desk people were very snooty to us and not very willing to help us with our troubles as stated above. they had a few good reviews and no place to comment on this hotel. people need to know that this hotel is not good for even a simple stay and especially for anybody that is handicap. the only good thing about this hotel is they sometimes had this nice lady doing the breakfast.

“They should pay YOU to stay in this hotel! AWFUL!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We took a 2 night trip to the Quad Cities for leisure. Had a free night's stay through Wyndham rewards so thought we would try out the Ramada since it looked really nice from the photos on their website. WRONG!! To begin, when we called to ask about a few of the ammenities, the front desk clerk said he had only been there a month. Should not have been working by himself - he knew nothing about the hotel but yet answered the phone for potential guests.

Our room looked okay at first glance. Until we found that there was no light bulb in the lamp, the bathroom had ZERO hot water, mold on the tiles above the shower, the register grills hadn't been cleaned for years, bathroom lighting may has well been candlelight and there was garbage behind the nightstand. Every time the air conditioner kicked on there was a thump that woke us up through the night. And the internet service is very poor. Works, but not well. This from a hotel that claims it is a "conference center"??

We were told by a different front desk clerk that we could use the hot tub after the closing time of 10 p.m. (who closes a public hot tub at 10??) 5 minutes after we went in, someone came around and said pool closes in 5 minutes. Told him we had permission from front desk to stay in. It was useless, he didn't speak English. When we got back to the room, that was when we discovered there was no hot water. Called front desk and a nice worker did come to our room, turned on water and said the building acts up. Let it run for 5 minutes and if it isn't warm, he would switch us rooms. This was at 10:30 p.m. Irritated, we tried to let water warm and eventually it did warm up to luke warm. Called front desk and he said that's good cause I only have one other king room in the building. I found that very hard to believe since we didn't see one other guest on our floor at all, or in the pool area where there are several rooms surrounding.

The part that was the most upsetting was how our room was "freshened up" while we were gone (2 night stay). We came back to a bed that wasn't made, well the covers were pulled up but they didn't even rearrange the pillows or put the comforter back on (who would want that blanket on anyway in this dump?) The maids took our shampoo and soap and did not leave any refills. Nor towels! The front desk clerk did give us new towels, lotion and shampoo. He wasn't able to find any soap. C'MON!!! The garabage also was not emptied. Why they remembered to give us more coffee, who knows. Really makes you wonder how well they clean the rooms in this place! We saw the maids coming into work at 9 a.m. Goes to show how many rooms they had to clean; everywhere else we have stayed begins housekeeping very early in the morning.

We called the front desk .. again .. to tell them we expected some money off the price we paid for one of the nights. Front desk said you will have to call our general manager and he isn't here much because he has another job. What? A general manager of a large hotel/conference center still has to have a job at the 7-11?? I have a feeling that I will not hear back from ramada on this because obviously they hear complaints every day from this hotel. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the pool and hot tub area is very nice, although when no one else is there, it is quite creepy. So is going to your room where you know there are no other guests.

This hotel is right next to a Days Inn and I haven't seen very good reviews on that either. Go down the road another mile and stay at one of the nicer places. We should have stayed at the Super 8 - nicer looking hotel and $40 cheaper per night. I hope no one else has to go through what we did at this hotel. If I don't hear back from Ramada in the next few days, I will be calling the chamber of commerce and better business bureau. This place should be shut down!

“There are other hotels in the area, so stay somewhere else.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Honestly, I can't believe I'm wasting words to describe this stay. You should just stop reading here and find another hotel to stay at. But here I go . . .

Upon arrival at the hotel, we noticed a window that was broke with wood over it. It was never fixed during our stay. Please note that a TripAdvisor review from mentioned a similar scenario from seven months before.

After check-in, we went to check out our room. Good thing we didn't bring our luggage. The room stunk of mold/mildew. We immediately went to the front desk to ask for a change. The lady at the front-desk seemed to be bothered by the fact that we wanted a change in room. Fortunately, there was a gentleman there that stepped in and was a little more helpful. He assigned us a new room.

We were obviously punished for wanting a new room, because we were assigned to the back-most part of the hotel near the banquet-hall area of the hotel (surprisingly, people have wedding receptions here). This area of the hotel was desolate and looked like it was completely flooded at one time. Every room we walked by, to get to our room, was empty. Also, the way they split the wings of the hotel based on odds/evens, made it confusing to even find our room. During our two-night stay, we didn't see one other person on our floor.

The hotel room itself wasn't that bad, barring the old bed comforter and outdated decor. However, that being said, there are comparable hotels with much better rooms.

“Welcome back to the 1980's. . .”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

We visited the Quad-Cities so we could work on my mom's house. We booked the Ramada through Hotwire. Had I known Ramada was in the running, I would've run the other way! Haven't stayed at Ramada since the late 1980's because they were always so terrible. I didn't even know they were still around. This hotel used to be a Holiday Inn and a small sign out front asks guests to excuse their mess, since they are renovating. Not sure what they're renovating. Maybe its the exterior, because it certainly isn't anything inside. Let's start with the facilities. When we checked in and went to the room, it was very tiny and every bit of the furniture was OLD and worn. The curtain wouldn't close all the way and you really had to squeeze the ancient remote to get the tv to work. The towels were very thin, like you'd expect from an old mom and pop hotel or a motel 6. The hair and dirt covered bathtub/shower was worn as well. The hotel advertises itself as a conference center with a pool etc. The pool area was dark. The only real light comes from the lights in the pool itself. The mini golf course is stuck in a corner and is nothing. Just some astroturf with holes in it. Then there's the breakfast which each day had a theme. One day it was "starch" as waffles and pancakes were available, but no protein. Another day it was protein because eggs were available along with bagels, toast etc. The on-demand movies didn't work either, but we'll get to that later. Let's talk staff. When we checked in, the desk clerk watched me take a luggage cart all the way across the lobby and said nothing. After I had loaded all of my luggage and brought it in, she said, "You can't get to your room with the cart. It's upstairs and in another building." That would've been nice to know beforehand. She never did provide directions to the building. Two nights when we got back late and tired, our room keys wouldn't work. Both nights I trudged down to the front desk where I had to wait for the desk clerk to finish texting so I could get help. The problem was fixed with no explanation or apology. When we tried to use the ppv movies, I couldn't get it to work, so I called the front desk once, twice, three times with no answer. So I went down to the front desk and explained the problem. He said it was because I didn't have a credit card on file, so I put one on. He said it would be on in less than 15 minutes. 30 minutes later it wasn't working, so I called down again, and he told me maintainence was on their way up to look at it. A few minutes later the maintenance man and what appeared to be a housekeeper showed up, looked at the back of the tv, wrote something down and said it was probably set up wrong. They then left. Close to an hour later I called to see what was happening and the clerk told me it was out and a technician would be in the next day to fix it. Why they didn't call and let me know I can't say. A few minutes later the maintenance man and housekeeper showed back up and said it wasn't working. This was pretty much the staff through the whole visit. My recommendation: Stay at the Motel 6 up the street. It's probably cheaper and better. I vowed never to stay at Ramada again and I intend to stick with it. Tear it down and start over.

“Horrible stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

The first thing I found was a hair on my pillow, and it went down hill from there. The put us right next to a very loud wedding party that they were having in one of their halls. As the night wore on the wedding party became more drunk, and loud. The music was so loud you could hear the bass bouncing off our walls. The wedding guest where standing right in front of our door acting very rude. When I went to call the front desk I seen a cockroach crawling aroung my son's suitcase! I told the front desk about everything, and they said they would call back. They never did. I did see out my window that they had sent secuirty down to talk to the wedding party, but that made them even louder. I pulled my curtains together only to find them flithy dirty. When I went to wash my hands at the sink in our room, there was a huge crack all the way down the vanity. They could've gave us another room, but never afford. In the morning I complained to the girl at the front desk, and she could have cared less. I told her that this place was giving Ramada a bad name. Her reply was that they were not part of the chain, just in name only. When I got home I e-mailed the Ramada company, and they haven't responded. I wanted the manager to speak to me at the hotel, but the girl said that he wasn't there because he had another job. I haven't called him back, but I am not sure it is worth my time. Please do not stay at a place where they do not care about you...
